Flatworms are small and dark colored unless you are talking about AEFW then they are almost perfectly clear. I haven't ever seen them, thats just what I have heard...........HTH

Mine is set up that way too. Gravitiy fed to the skimmer box and then gravitiy fed to the sump. Heres a picture. Maybe this will help you, I haven't had a problem with this set-up (knock on wood).

If you are using a skimmer also, the sponges should be in front of that to get the most out of the dirty water.

I would think that would be a risky test. If they start to fail/die you would need to pull them quickly. If the sponges grew naturally thats different, but to add several to an established tank seems risky. But then again I have not an educated clue, just a opinion.

Soak/run vineger thru the pump, that will clean it up nicely. I take it you can't reach all the ares of the Remora? Use an old credit card to scrap areas and hold them with some pliers to give you some more length in reaching into those areas. Hope that was what you were looking for.

I hover around that all the time and I believe my tank is doing well. It could be better but all is growing and show good color. I have never had my ph above 8.1 and never below 7.7/7.8. Like I say Dan its just my $.02.

Miles maybe your issue is from the recent moving of the tank. The corals might just be stressed from that. If the slimer doesn't make it for some reason let me know and we can fix that. Hope you see a turn around soon.

My tank hardly ever makes it to 8 on a PH test. Usually I'm around 7.8-7.9. I wouldn't be to worried about your ph being 8 as long as it wasn't 8.4 a couple of hours ago. If it is stable with a small swing I believe that is normal and just fine. The problems with ph are when it gets real low or when it has a large swing in a 24 hr period. If it is swinging around .3 in a days time I say you have nothing to worry about. Thats my opinion and others will/may say differently.

J/K We can't show porn, or use extreme language, or anything else that someone might be offended by. Remember you might not be offened but someone else may be so we have to show restraint. WE DO HAVE SPONSORS AND WE ARE AN EDUCATIONAL N.P.O. We need to remember this. How much would it suck for our sponsors or potential sponsors to find a thread that they disapproved of and pull the sponsorship or tell us that they don't wish to do bussiness with us. Remember that we are trying to run this board with outside support too. Religion and politics I believe can be talked about. There just has to be a point in a heated disscussion where one or both/all parties need to drop the subject before it goes way to far. Just use common sence with all your threads/posts. Don't do something that you know is wrong or will be a trigger point for a bigger and meesier situation. We are all adults that can and should be able to police ourselves. We on the board don't want to be the bad guys and tell you whats right and whats wrong. But we will and we have to draw up some sort of guidelines. Along with that we have to have some form of warning system also. That will be coming soon I believe. Talk about anything and everything but just be smart about it and think of others......I hate to sound all depressing and negative but I'm not trying to be. For all of you that say your skimmers aren't running right. Have you tried giving your pump a vineger bath? I know everyone knows this is a maintain thing but I must have waited a long time between mine. DOH! I was having some trouble getting my ER to stay at good level and I couldn't get it to stay consistent. After soaking/running in vineger for awhile it is working GREAT!!!! Like a new skimmer, foams like crazy! yahoo So if nothing seems to work try it. I'll make sure I don't go so long in between doing them.
