TheGooseWhisperer
COBWEBS?!? I was away on vacation for 10 days and i came home to find my front glass looking like this: What is this stuff?!? When I left the front glass had its fair share of algae growing on it and lots of pods running around, but I didnt notice any of this thin thready material. I cleaned the glass and somehow small pieces reattached in a matter of minutes. I dont see anything like this on the live rock. Although, there are a few areas of the live rock that are "dusty"...I don't think its hair algae since most of it blows off with a pipette/turkey baster. Its present on the back glass too, but shorter and more fine and only under the outflow of the HOB skimmer. It does seem to gather more in higher flow areas and where a powerhead creates a shadow its almost nonexistent. Everything in the tank seems to be doing just fine...I frag'd some shrooms and they are healing just fine, zoa/palys are growing new polyps and my frogspawn is having babies (new branches forming:)) So, it doesnt seem to be causing a problem, but it does have me concerned about the overall health of the tank. dsoz
It may be a bacterial bloom. The new bacteria on the substrate (glass) are pushing the older bacteria away, but they are sticking together. Just a guess. dsoz
