Any Mechanics in PNWMAS?

We own a 2004 Chevrolet Venture AWD minivan. Today we rolled down the passengers window (its electric), and it won't roll back up. It will go down farther. Neither switch will roll it up.

 

Any ideas as to what may be wrong?

Tom & Ray have said that the window motors are prone to failure.

The motor is "working" in that it rolls down, but not up.

That's ok, they're only right about half the time.

I have been doing some research. Gravity may be letting the window down. I am going to replace the switch tomorrow. Hope that works.

A Chilton's or a Haynes Manual is always good to have for working on your own vehicle. I usually keep a copy of each.

Broken roller or pin. pull DOOR COVER OFF AND LOOK Before buying a switch if the motor is working!! Not uncommon.

Did you get this fixed? This happened to me about a month or so ago.

 

One of the rear windows could roll down but not up, and could only go down if I used the switch on that door, not from the driver's. This happened around noon, and when the day was over to go home, I just jumped in the car, turned the key to aux, and tried the window. Some how, that caused the window to roll up. I didn't dare roll it down again though.

 

So right now i'm never rolling it down. I can live with that window just closed, it's an older car anyway.

this happened to me, replaced door regulator assembly if I remember correctly, problem fixed.

I got it fixed this morning. The shop that does my oil changes, here in Orchards took care of me real good. It was expensive and leave it to GM/Chevrolet to make it complicated, it was a switch, but its not wired "normally" so it was misdiagnosed by someone else.

 

But finally, after only a few days of raining the window works.
