Ron Popeil Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 im looking for a program that i can enter in my parameter values and then look at them graphed out over time. im sure i could whip something up on excel, but was hoping someone already had designed something.... i use a macintosh, so ideally the program would have to be compatible. any thoughts or suggestions? thanks! andy Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I looked around a bit a while back and didn't find anything that was particularly compelling. I ended up using Excel (long un-updated and out of date example: http://reef.eldersign.org/aquarium_log.htm); now, I just use the temp and pH tracking and graphing that Aquanotes Light (the free software package for the Aquacontrollers) provides. Ron Popeil Posted August 12, 2008 Author Posted August 12, 2008 thanks andy, ill look into that. however, last i checked there wasnt a program for aquacontrollers for macs...ive tried to look for one with my ACjr, but always come up empty handed... Quote
Ron Popeil Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 yes, yes i do. i even have the serial port...however, its useless without a PC apparently. Quote
andy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Yeah, I think you might make it work with Parallels of VirtualBox plus an RS232-to-USB adapter but you'd end up spending more than the difference between the ACjr and the AC3 :( Quote
shaywood Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 You might try setting up and using the Aquarium Log on Reefland.com. Quote
pledosophy Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Reef Con Pro is kinda cool. Not sure of the Mac compatibility. The expense feature is scary though. Quote
Ron Popeil Posted August 14, 2008 Author Posted August 14, 2008 sounds like a great program...but no macintosh compatability unfortunately. i think ill tinker with andys program for a while, but keep looking for something similar... Quote
Ron Popeil Posted August 14, 2008 Author Posted August 14, 2008 i have and toyed with the demo a bit. i dont think i like it. some people have mentioned some excel programs theyve made on RC so im going to tinker with those when i get some free time. ill let you guys know which one i find the best! andy Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Bootcamp is cool, Parallels is cool++. Only for Intel Macs though, not PPC. Quote
