tidalsculpin
How do you clean a tom aqualifter pump? I seem to have gotten a lot of algae buildup or sediment in it. I lost siphon the other day on my overflow and it got me a little frustrated. I cleaned the passage to pull out air but it is still very slow. Should I run vinegar through it? Hot water? Will I ruin parts inside if it is too hot? Should I take the thing apart or will it ever go back together?
andy
I let mine circulate vinegar for a while.
tidalsculpin
Do you use it to dose kalkwasser or for a cpr overflow? This one is on a cpr overflow.
andy
I dose kalk, but I don't think that'll make much difference.
tidalsculpin
alright, I'll try it. Do you think taking it apart is a bad idea?
andy
I'd try the vinegar first. Taking it apart is probably pretty easy, it's putting it back together that might be a problem

andy
I think they put spares in there, just in case.
WAVES
Ive taken these apart before. You can do it pretty easily but it is a pain to get it put back together. They use a thin plastic sheets about an 1/8th inch wide. Tiny little things that are clear and are a pain to work with. Ill never open one again, but it can be done. Never seemed to work like it did when it was new either....

tidalsculpin
I know they are cheap. Just wanted to see if it was worth it to open it up. I am gonna clean it in vinegar tomorrow.
