Statewide Opportunities

 

 

Now you can help SOLV help Oregon with just a signature. Download a petition form and sign it to support SOLV as a beneficiary of the Oregon Charitable Check-off. This program allows Oregonians to direct their state tax refund to SOLV. You can collect signatures from other Oregonians to help too. Download the form at: http://egov.oregon.gov/DOR/docs/800-910.pdf. Once you’ve signed the form and asked your friends and neighbors to sign as well, send the completed original form to SOLV, Attn: Gerik Kransky, 5193 NE Elam Young Parkway, Suite B, Hillsboro, OR 97124.

 

 

7/15/2006 and 7/16/2006 – VOLUNTEER AT THE OREGON INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW, 9:00AM to 10:00PM, at the Hillsboro Airport. Contact Joni Wolf at jawolf@comcast.net or at 971-506-9751 for details or to volunteer. Benefits include free admission to the airshow.

 

 

Greater Portland Metro Area Opportunities

 

 

7/04/2006 – HILLSBORO FOURTH OF JULY PARADE, 8:00AM to 1:00PM. Volunteers will assist in setting up garbage boxes before the parade, handing out garbage bags to parade attendees and collecting full garbage bags after the parade. Volunteers are also needed to landscape islands along the Westside Light Rail. For more information, or to volunteer, contact Bob Grover or Jerry Willey, Hillsboro Rotary Club at 503-793-6104.

 

 

7/04/2006 - Kick off July fourth in Estacada with a community celebration and the largest fireworks display in Clackamas County. Volunteers armed with SOLV litter bags will help clean up trash during and after the event. 7/08/2006 – Join neighbors in N.E. Portland for the "Retilling the Soil" project - a community effort to clean up three neighborhoods and bring residents together through work, music, food and fellowship. 7/08/2006 - TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEER LEADERS, 9:00AM to 2:00PM, Portland. Join SOLV in a hands-on workshop and learn how to envision and lead successful community projects. The workshop will focus on recruiting and leading volunteers; project logistics and safety; preventing volunteer burnout; working with the media; and fundraising. The training will help you work with your neighbors to improve your community, and is free for anyone planning a community project. 7/17/2006 – YOU CAN NOMINATE A PROJECT FOR THE INTEL-SOLV WASHINGTON COUNTY CLEAN & GREEN PROJECT. This annual event involves Intel employees and other community volunteers. We are looking for great project ideas from people in Washington County. Projects take place on Saturday, October 21st and school service-learning projects will happen on Friday, October 20th. 7/22/2006 - Friends of the Forest Day with the National Forest Foundation. 9:30AM to 1:30PM. Volunteers are invited to join the National Forest Foundation, SOLV and the US Forest Service for a volunteer day repairing the historic Cascade Lake Ranger Station near Timothy Lake on Mt. Hood.
