Chief
We are looking for someone to host the May meeting in your home. We are open to any kind of meeting. Some suggestions as of late have been a DIY workshop, or other educational meeting as we have several new people on the forums. I am more than happy to do all the talking and can put something together if you just want to host. Thanks, Jay
Chief
We still need a volunteer for the May meeting? If we cannot find a volunteer soon, we will ask one of our sponsors to host a meeting. I would like to do a workshop at this meeting. Maybe a "how to set up a phyto/rotifer culture" workshop. Or a DIY nitrate reactor. Other ideas??? Needs to be kind of simple. We only have 2 hours. Thanks, Jay
impur
Are you looking to do this up north? I might be up to host a meeting.

downhill_biker
I could see if we could do it at Lane Community College. It would be neat to have it there and check out their tanks. They have several tropical tanks and some cold water tanks for local species. I help in the wet room, so I might be able to get a room at the college. It is in Eugene, OR. Chief
I am open to a Eugene area meeting. We haven't had one down here for quite a while. Jay
downhill_biker
So is that a yes for trying to get into Lane Community College? I will ask on Thursday and see if we can have a room. It is dependent on faculty availability, and the instructor that I know would do it, Carrie Newell, some may know her from her Oregon Residential Whale Work, and Work at Hatfield Marine Science Center, may not be able to come. Her daughter just gave birth to a baby after only 6 months of pregnancy, and she is busy now, but someone else may do it, or she may do it anyway. What is covered in this meeting? Is there any chance that someone could give a lecture, and we could invite faculty and students to the meeting? I know Lane loves having after hours lectures and this would be great to share expertise.
impur
Lane would be awesome!!! I'm willing to help where i can.
downhill_biker
Does anyone have any ideas for a speaker. That would really seal the deal as far as using the building, if we could offer an educational venue then they would have no problem. Maybe someone could talk about human impact on reefs, both examples of good and bad.
downhill_biker
Also I need to know the exact date and what time I need to request the useage, and for how long, and about how many people (of our group) will be attending. i know it probably is different all the time but i just need a rough estimate. 180Brandy
I'm pretty sure it's the 18th of May at 2pm. Because the following weekend is memorial weekend. And the week before is Mother's Day. Jay is this correct?
downhill_biker
well if that is the case, i am afraid we will have to wait until another month to have the meeting at lane community college. i will be out of town for my dad's wedding from the 16-18th of may. sorry guys. maybe we can shoot for next month. Kevinmc
I second the idea by Nyles. We should have the opportunity to get our hands dirty and learn at the same time. Let's try to set something up at OSU in Corvallis as well, we should be tapping into the resources of facilities that share in the common interest. We should make the meeting more of a workshop and have a project that we are working on. Several thing to go over is how to acclimate fish properly, the proper way to QT live stock, and how to grow our own food for our tanks. Another useful subject is how to hospitialize fish or inverts when they first start to show signs of going down hill before it is too late and they die. I would like to see move done with these areas. Thanks Kevin
