Tuesday on Discovery Channel. For some reason I like the show and now adding reefmaking, a bonus for fellow reefers.

Dirty Jobs, Tuesday 9-10pm, repeats Wed 1-2am, Sat 1-2pm

"Mike helps make Reef Balls, a component of an artificial underwater reef to revitalize fish and coral populations in areas damaged by pollution."

Thanks Ron! It will be good to see what John Walch has been up to since he visited Portland about 10 years ago. Here are some of his latest projects.

That was the ugliest live rock I've ever seen made, but a great thing. Curious what it looks like after a few years in diving areas. I like the idea of using whole shells in the rock for caves for the fish, awesome idea. You can bury some in your rock while making it, maybe leaving the shell out of site with the opening at the edge of your rock. Can break off the excess after it dries. Hmm, I've got 2 buckets of shells from Fiji in the garage...oh yeah, I don't have room for more rock :)
