racefan
I was doing a water change today & noticed my Gold Banded Coral Shrimp appeared dead. I kind of assumed maybe it was a molt & when I went grab it, it moved. The thing is it does not have any legs or pincers! How do you you reckon this could have happened? I do have a smallish Emerald Crab in there (29 gal Bio Cube) could it have happened during a molt? Here's a pic of my handicap shrimp. Dennis Dennis, No I have not been dosing iodine. I no longer have a iodine test kit & don't want to just start dosing willy nilly.

Blackhand
ah thats sad i love coral banded shrimp my guess is incomplete molt or the crab attacked it during the molting process ive had that happen before how big is the crab
matty
It looks like a bad molt to me as well. Sometimes as it molts further it will re grow the missing parts. You will have to baby it and directly feed it though. Maybe move it to a breeder net so it can get to the food easier. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1504940
Gill
Seems like itd prolong a suffering life Shrimp can regenerate an arm during a molt, so there is a possibility that if he can make it to his next molt he might make a recovery.
