peligro
Ok So I'm guessing my ballast is going to The drain. It has trouble turning on from time to time, And I have to sit there like a cave man to.try to get it to fire on, or humm..... So my ? Being is there anything I can do myself to fix it. Is there a ballast the will work for it rather then forking out the 200+ bucks for a new ballast through jbj. PowderBlue
Sunlight supply? If so most have a 3 year warranty. Most lfs always have used ballasts laying around also. I know upscales and Fantaseas do.
MVPaquatics
If it is a magnetic ballast it probably needs the capacitor replaced. That is the part that builds up energy to initially fore the bulb. I am guessing it is magnetic vs electronic because electronic usually just go out, they dont gradually stop working. kriz2fer
You can buy a new or replace the capacitor like MVP aquatics said. Do you know that brand of ballast you have?
Barelycuda
If it is magnetic and has a starter then you can take the starter out and replace it. Depending on which starter it is Home Depot may have it. They stock quite a few starters back in the lighting section where they sell replacement ballasts.
