stephanie
I have a bucket of 25 gallons of ro water, I added red sea coral pro salt let it sit for 24 hrs. and now the bucket stinks like urine. I tested the water and it is reading good except for ammonia is reading in between 0 ad .25. I know 0 is the only acceptable #, but can I salvage the water by adding prime or something of the sort or should I just start with new water? MVPaquatics
Definately start new. How long was the ro water in the barrel? I have often wondered about people using a barrel for awhile, developing a bacterial load on the sides, and then adding salt kills the freshwater bacteria causing a mini cycle. Just a thought
stephanie
I have always cleaned and dried the bucket the bucket in between each use, but this time I was not as diligent about getting a good clean and letting it dry. The water also got really hot, I had a large pump for circulation in it. Thanks for the advice! I kind of knew I was going to dump it out and start over!!! So frustrating.
