Kimberlee
So Ralf the eel has settled in nicely since he came home. Thanks Edd. But I feel like I'm not feeding him a big enough meal when it is feeding time. He is always looking around for more food. At 8" how big a piece should I be giving him? or is it normal for him to be greedy? Edd was correct, The eel defiantly eats like a little piggy. Other than this 1 thing he seems happy and comes out when ever I approach the tank. No fear. Here is a better pic
NoobtoSalt
The one I have is a pig as well. I feed every three days or so. It eats at least seven to ten krill. I also feed it squid once in awhile. Sooner or later it's coming out of the tank though. Just been procrastinating..lol. Mines about fourteen inches long. Kimberlee
I've seen your monster, even at 14" he is bigger much bigger than mine. Should I give him meals at least as big as his head? is there a good rule of thumb to follow as he gets bigger?
MVPaquatics
MAKE SURE, you get your eels accustomed to things other than krill! A krill only diet will cause lockjaw! I have seen it so many time! see this link (good forum if you didnt know about it, talk to the experts for yourself!): http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic72164-10-1.aspx
Kimberlee
Thanks, I'm doing my best to give him a varied diet. I've given him some shrimp, which Edd already had him eating and I was thinking I'd try some clam too.
