gmiller
Hi, what do you folks out there think of Selcon? Is it really beneficial for the fish or just a waste of money?
impur
I don't see any dramatic effects of it either way. Besides the smell.
andy
I just got some and am trying it out. Without a controlled study it'd be hard for anyone to say with certainty that it's doing anything -- but that's just the way it is in this hobby, pretty much everything is anecdotal. Palani
It is mostly used for enrichment of live rotifers and/or baby brine for feeding to fry. Unless you find a vessel (ie. rotifer, artemia) for transport to the polyp or mouth (of a fish) it is just wisked away in the water. Hopefully something will absorb it through its skin. andy
Soaking food in it doesn't help with that?
Nyles
I soak my DIY food in it but honestly I think it does little good, I think the fish get better quality of nutrients from mixed bag food from the seafood department than selcon and its WAY cheaper. Palani
Yeah Andy, soaking your flakes, pellets, frozen, and especially freeze dried food is another "vessel" you could use as well.
