andy
There's a similar thread at RC. I think it's only half the story, but it's a pretty damning half...
Ranger
Interesting. But you only get one side of the story. It would be interesting to see what Eric says. Awful large waste of corals though. Seemingly.
Nyles
I have never got the whole story, so I refrain from commenting, negative or positive. Every time the subject comes up I hear negativity but I never really hear why. I do understand many many corals where killed or lost, how or why I don't know. oldbrownies
I've heard of other restoration projects that have recently worked with the same group of collected corals, not his of course, but it's an interesting point this website has put out there. How much of the coral collected from the wild for "restoration" actually ends up helping the wild reef, and how much is abused and used for profit. Too bad it's archived now so you have to be a member to see it. :(
dsoz
I also saw a similar thread about a month ago on nano-reef.com. They really were bashing on Eric. I did not comment, but I was interested. I am also interested in hearing his side of the story. I wonder what he would have said about this if we asked him when he was here. dsoz
impur
I'm like most of the ppl here, i'll hold comment until i hear both sides.
Twitterbait
I too would love to hear what Eric has to say about it... but he has been too busy sueing anybody that mentions it to actually defend himself.
impur
Interesting. I guess we'll hear more as it gets uglier.
oldbrownies
Everytime I see this I just get angrier about the situation. one very obvious and stupid mistake in the whole thing is mixing them with pacific species ruining the chance of them ever being used to repopulate any reef, just stupid. sihaya
You should hear his defense that they planned to use "surface sterilization"...
Twitterbait
this "surface sterilization" wouldn't happen to involve fire would it :p
Twitterbait
I hear that Eric invented a cure for flatworms, red bugs, etc. Then he sold the patent to Marc Weiss, and that Marc will soon be marketing it. It looks something like this...
illcssd
hahaha lmao

sihaya
Actually, someone on nano-reef suggested that the surface sterilization might look more like this: http://www.pamf.org/images/teen/Foamgel.gif j/k
spayne
Let's be careful here... I don't want this thread to turn into a flame fest against Borneman. Discuss the topic, but no pot shots. We are NOT that kind of club or forum!
