k9flash
The Neptune Apex Jr is due to be released early June. It is supposed to come with net capability standard and run like 150 bucks since it has no display and runs through either your computer or droid/iphone. Looks pretty decent. http://premiumaquatics.com/aquatic-supplies/NEP-APEXJR.html

Smann
I saw the release on the Apex jr, its looks like a great starter controller. I do all my programming on my computer (Aqua III) rarely punch in the box in the tank room
k9flash
Plus it is still expandable so you can add components down the road to fit your needs. I'm planning on grabbing one as well as soon as it comes out.
