RBTA split

The bigger one is probably better for keeping.

I would wait at least a week or two before feeding. Let it heal.

Depending on the color and size you can get anywhere from $25 to $45 for it from a member of the forum, or about $20 from a LFS ($10 if it is small).

congrats.

dsoz answered that perfectly

Thank you sir. I would think that I have some experience with anemones. My anemone farm is only at 7 right now (down from a high at 15). I am just about ready to cut two of them, then I would be up to 9. I do have one that I am not going to cut to see how big it gets before it decides to split. I have been feeding it a silverside every other day and it is starting to get HUGE!

I think we waited like 4-5 days before we started to feed our RBTA again when ours split. I would think the larger one would be the one to keep. As for the going rate, I have no idea. We put ours up for like $30 after it healed for a few weeks and didnt get a single email about it and he was about 3" across. Now its just getting larger and larger.

Is it as big as this one - lower center, left maybe 14" across when fully inflated

I think it was close to that size when I got my mother anemone. I have split/cut them so many times that the largest one that I have at the moment is about 8" across and growing like a weed. When they get to be about 4-5 inches, that is when I cut them. Then they heal up and are about 2-3 inches and can take small pieces of silversides after a week or so. I am feeding them every other day (sometimes every day). The big one gets a whole silverside, the others get 1/4 to 1/2 of a silverside depending on the size.

That green one looks nice. I don't have any more of the green ones left. I think I lost them when my tank went through a phase of red "cotton candy" hair algae. Now that the battle of the hair algae is almost claimed to be won, the anemones are growing great again.

The biggest problem that I had were the darn maroon clowns. The clowns would take the food out of the anemone and put it in the corner of the tank. So away went the clowns, and the anemones get a lot more to eat now.
