nnewhouse
My wife was checking out our nano last night and called me over. She asked, "have you ever seen a tube worm like that before?" I looked around several times and couldn't find anything. She then had to physically point it out and to my surprise there was a dark black feather duster coming out of some live rock. (clap) How cool is that? Has anyone ever seen a black one? It is about the size of a quarter. I stared at it for a few moments then it quickly darted back to it's crevice. Queen Angel
I havent seen a black one myself. Must of been pretty cool to see something you didnt know was there. I have small flashlights right on my aquarium stand, for the late night sneek-a-peaks. Wish I could have feather dusters, my large angels would never let them open unfortunately. Since your wife saw it first, I say its now hers. LOL
nnewhouse
Now wait a minute? It's my tank, not hers. If I claimed everything I found in her tank she would have nothing left.
dsoz
yes, they come in all sorts of colors. Black ones are much more rare than the standard white ones. dsoz
Michael7979
Did the entire thing disappear into the crevice? Or just the "feathers"? If it all disappeared you might want to look into 'peanut worms'.

nnewhouse
I will try to get some pictures but it is in a really awkward spot. Oh, it is definitely not a peanut worm.
Algae
It's nice that it is on live rock as a hitchhiker. It has paid its dues and it is hardy!
Lemontree
I've got one too! Dark purple, almost black, with a tiny white feathery mouth- Also a hitchiker- and another one that looks like a long purple worm. - I'll try to get photos tomorrow.
