Help I.D. Good or Bad?

vermited snail? Is it like a red tube sticking up? It is a snail that glues itself to a rock and sends out a "fishing line" of mucous to catch stuff that floats in the water.

Mostly harmless. The bad parts are #1 the mucous can irritate other things if it gets on them (coral, etc.) and #2 if you try to pick up the rock and the tube acts like a needle and jabs into your hand it hurts A LOT!!!!

I tend to break them off the rock when I find them.

Yes they are little red tubes. It looks like I have cobwebs in my tank. Will it kill my corals? Or just irritate them?

Thanks

break them off. They are a hard shell, so it breaks off really easy. I do it with my other tank maintenance... Water changes, scraping coraline, picking out hair algae, killing aptasia, etc.

BSWE22- IMO, it would not be a good idea for a newbie to add a copperband butterfly fish to a reef tank. If you have researched it, and think you know what you are doing then you can make up your own mind.
