gradth
I am a big fan of hawkfish. They have always intrigued me but the fact they are considered not totally reef safe has kept me away. I found a spotted hawkfish yesterday and could not resist. He is pretty small, about an inch. I put him in my 55 FO/qt tank for now. I have 3 cleaner shrimp and a handful of peppermint shrimp in my tank. I would say most my shrimp are bigger then the hawkfish. Anyone had good luck with hawkfish in reefs? Badluck? Thanks in advance.
Nyles
Had a falco hawk for a long time, he was ok (dwarf) but did get pretty aggressive after a few years, I ended up getting rid of him but he was very comical and an attention hog. snowpunk
When I got my tank there was one with it. Sadly he didn't survive the move here but I was told he had been in there for a few years happily...
CA2OR
I had a long nose hawk in a 12g reef and he was great. little wierd though....or maybe we are talking about 2 different fish.
gradth
This isnt mine, but close. He is a blast to watch. Did any of you have shrimp in your reefs? Im pretty sure all my shrimp are bigger then this little guy, but not sure if that matters or not.
snowpunk
yep, I had a mated pair of coral banded shrimp. But coral banded shrimp can usually fend for themselves much better then other shrimp too. I don't know about other shrimp. I would think if the shrimp was big enough it would be okay, but don't take my word for truth since I really don't have anything to back that up...
