Cannedmulder
Hello I am not super new to reefing but only 1 year into it! I live in Central Oregon Redmond to be specific. I had a 75gal tank that about 3 months ago crashed. It was not fun as I lost about half of my corals and a few fish and inverts. In that crash at 2am, with the help of COReefer, I moved everything I manage to save over to a 120 gal tank! I have a 15 or so gal sump with a LIfereef skimmer. 3 power heads, 75w MH lights with 65 w actinics. What else would you like to know? I have 1 hippo tang, 1 kole tang, 1 marroon clown, 1 false perc clown, 2 anenomes, 1 arch eye hawk, 1 starry blenny, 1 yellow watchman and 1 pistol shirmp combo, 1 pink spot goby, 1 sally light foot crab, 1 coris wrasse, hermies, 1 sand sifting starfish, and many snails of many varities. I think that is it but I may have missed someone. I am waiting to get a mandrin but I would like to add another fish too....any suggestions? It is a reef tank! Talk to you all soon!! I'll get pics as soon as I can!!
CCR
Welcome new "TOAD":) Your wrasse may give a Mandrin a fight for it's life eating the pods so fast. Looking forward to the pic's.

dsoz
Welcome. Sorry to hear about your tank crash. It is good to have a network of people in your area that can help out in times of trouble. If you come over to portland much, let us know what you have and we can work up some trading. dsoz

But my new tank is turning out to be beautiful!!

Chief
I feel your pain. This is what my 240 looked like before my tank crash. I lost everything. Glad to hear that you stayed in the hobby. Most get out after a crash. Here is the new and improved setup. Jay
Cannedmulder
That was a beautiful set up! I am sorry you lost yours. What help my crash was I was already in the process of switching my tank over to the 120 from the 75 so I already had over 75% of the water in the new tank and I had added the sand in that day. I had taken off the sump so I could move it to the new tank and one thing led to another. Well in the whirl wind the incorrect heater probe was put in the tank and so the heater thougth it was at 72 until I found it at 93 degrees. So I was planning on taking a lot longer on switching over but that didnt happen! Here's my 75 not to long after it was first set up. CA2OR
Sorry to hear of the crash. Welcome to PNWMAS. I have a feeling I am on the verge of a crash. I have a major air bubble problem ever since I upgraded my light. I can not seem to find the source of the bubbles. Driving me crazy. Rick
Welcome. If your considering a Mandarin you may want to read up on them first. I wanted one as I think they are a beautiful fish however after a bit of reading it will be at least another year or maybe two before I consider it again. What I could find suggests that your tank will need to be a major pod producing tank to provide enough food for their diet. Otherwise they will clean out what pods are there and then starve. (Most starve within a year) Other suggestions: I don't see any Angels on your list. For dwarf angels some of my favorites are the Flame Angel, Coral Beauty Angel, and the Lemon Peel Angel. There are a few of the regular Angels we looked at as well however I'm close to the limit for my tank until I get a bigger one.
Cannedmulder
I had a coral beauty for a bit. I am always scard to get a angel cuz you just never know if they will be truely reef safe. I want to get a lemon peel tang! I had one and they are just beautiful but he wouldnt eat and starved. I also had an ebili tang but dont know what happened to him. I went on vacation and came back and he was gone. I am waiting a long time to get a mandrin. Taht is why I don'thave one yet!
Kung Fu Spider Crab
Welcome and good to see another person in Central Oregon. I've benefited from COreefer's advice and input myself, though I've been fortunate not to have a tank crash. There are a ton of great people who are willing to share, which has helped me a ton. Learning from other peoples mistakes or attempts has been very helpful for me.
