prada Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Not sure if this is the right forum for this question but I was wondering if I should stop using this pump? I've been using it to mix my sw and haven't had a problem yet. Thanks. Quote
dsoz Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I would. Water can get down in that waterproof area and mess with your electrical contacts. With electricity and water it is better to be safe than sorry. You may be able to waterproof it again if you used some electrical shrink tubes for wires, but I will leave that call to an electrician. You should PM Dave (Barelycuda) and ask his opinion. dsoz Quote
Barelycuda Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 There are water tight heatshrinks made that have an extra compound to keep moisture out. But to put it on you would have to cut the end off your cord and put a new cord cap on. If it was an expensive pump I would consider it but since it appears to be a smaller Rio I would throw it out. COReefer Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I disagree with all of the above. Throw it away=) Quote
tidalsculpin Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Recycle it at a local technology recycling center. Quote
Lowman Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Recycle it at a local technology recycling center. Good point. Quote
coralreefaquarist Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 burn it then pee on the ashes.(scratch)i mean recycle it(whistle) Quote
prada Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 LoL. I'm really glad that we have a local forum with so many people willing to help out. Thanks again. Quote
CA2OR Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 coralreefaquarist might have nailed it though....great idea "recycling" it. Quote
ThePremiumAquarium Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Nah, I would just pop the end off, shrink wrap the area damaged then pop a new end on. No need to waste a good pump unless its unfixable which this isn't. Just what I would do, but I am kinda a cheap ars Garrett Quote
