gawf4fun
Hey all, I haven't posted pics of my big reef in quite a few months, so here's a few shots I took earlier this month. My chiller broke down about a month ago, so my temperature fluctuates now between 79 and 83 degrees. Since then I've seen some pretty good growth. I'm considering not getting a replacement, but next weeks 100 degree weather has me concerned a little. Enjoy the pics. Mark
Rick
Nice. I like the way you have larger colonies of corals rather than a lot of smaller ones.

gawf4fun
Amazing! I like your tank a lot! Thanks Vanz. I'm glad you like it. I've grown very fond of it as well. Although the lady of the house thinks that she has to compete with it for attention.
Smann
Looks real nice! I like the collection of all the different types of corals that you have makes for a very nice display tank
Leonard
could we see a picture of the outer dimensions of your aquarium also? Pentagon?
kilmca
Wow, very nice variety of corals. I would also like to see a fts.
gawf4fun
could we see a picture of the outer dimensions of your aquarium also? Pentagon? The dimensions of the tank from the back corner are 48" along each side and just about 60" across the front. The tank is just short of 24" deep. Here's a picture from about 6 months ago of the tank with the canopy and stand open: For some reason, I don't have a picture of the stand and canopy closed. It's nice light oak however, custom made for me by my UPS man in exchange for an older hot tub.
fishmanmike01
Do you have any problems with "dead spots" in the corners of the tank?
gawf4fun
Do you have any problems with "dead spots" in the corners of the tank? Yes Mike, I've realized over the last 3 years that corner aquariums have their own particular set of problems, particularly flow. When I originally set it up, I thought that my 3000 GPH closed loop and my 950 gph return through a 1" Sea Swirl would do the job nicely. My aquascaping caused problems though as it was stacked against the back walls. I re-scaped a little over 18 months ago and it initially helped with the flow. As the corals grew in however, I needed to add more flow so I bought a used Vortech, which is directed in back of the rockwork on the left side. The Vortech does a great job of eliminating the corner "dead spot". I use a Tunze on the right side, which doesn't do as good a job. When funds allow, I'll be replacing the Tunze with another Vortech. Mark
epicenter
WOW, great looking tank, wish I knew how to take better picks like these here. Mine never get close to the real color. Any how, great reef you have there.
