Vancop
How long can I keep RO/DI Water stored in a 30 gallon trash can? I produce about 30 gallons at a time and leave it in the container for about a week until I'm ready for it. I have almost competed all my water changes on both tanks .....and will then be performing a W/C every 3-4 weeks ......is it ok to allow the water to sit in the container for this amount of time...unheated and unsalted ?? stylaster
sure as long as you have a lid on it to keep out contaniments. It will hold indefinetly
Rick
It should last a long time. (Months rather than weeks) Especially if covered. Not as long as distilled water but it will still last a long time.
coralreefer
I believe it is probably good for the water to sit--aerate--age...there have been several articles written about aging of RO-DI water/saltwater...sounds good to me... gradth
I run mine into my 5 gallon jugs and just store them like I did when I was still buying it from the LFS. Plus it makes moving it around to the tanks a bit easier.
spectra
I have a 40 gallon I think that has a PH in it with RO water and it lasts a long time. As stated just keep it covered and it should be ok. Good thing about the heat wave is no heater needed right now:D
markdadof2
I make my RO/DI up in a 32 gallon rubbermaid and have kept it for weeks with no issue. It seems that between evap and water changes it does not last weeks anymore. Like everyone said, keep it covered and it should be good for months. Vancop
Thanks for all the information. I have it in a 45 gallon that I installed a float on from the System. After I use the water it auto's fills the container and then will just sit and wait for my next W/C. The system is connected to both tanks for Auto Top Off of Evapotation. markdadof2
What kind of ATO are you running? I need to do this for my top-off container as well.
Vancop
the basic float style .....just installed it a few inches below the top of barrel ......then connected it to the pure water with a Tee and shut off valve ....thinks it the 18.00 plastic ATO float
DoughPat
Might as well throw some crushed coral in the bottom...let it "harden up" while it sits there. As I understand it, the pH of RO/DI water is usually a bit low (6ish), so it should be able to dissolve a bit of of CaCO3...every little bit helps Ryan
