Assuming the DI stage has color-changing indicator resin, and you already own it and it's installed....  Then use it and observe.  If the DI get's depleted - my assumption is there's something else in your water that Carbon and a membrane aren't catching.

I must be in a lucky location.  My incoming TDS is regularly low, and often my DI expired indicator doesn't trigger for a year.   For calibration, I use no less than 5gallons a day, mostly on evaporation top off.

Yes I forgot to mention that, it is color changing resin, so I'll keep an eye on that. I'm only making about 20 gallons a week for top off and water changes. Thanks!

  2. Hey y'all, I recently setup a 4stage RODI and have learned a lot about my water now. Its a BRS 75GPD Unit, that started out with just carbon blocks no membrane or di stage, and that's what I've been doing since the start of this year. And now I added and RO membrane and DI stage. Come to find out that after flushing the RO membrane the TDS comes out 0 going into the DI stage. So I'm thinking why do I even need a DI stage? Can I just fix the tubing to where it's running 2 carbon blocks before the membrane and just use that?

Just wanted to see what more people have to say, and post pics of your RODI!  I have mine mounted under a sink now, so pics are before I mounted it

    The specs on my unit

    5 micron sediment

    BRS universal carbon blocks 1micron

    Dow 75gpd membrane

    Mixed Cation/Anion DI

TDS meters, pressure gauge, flush valves for carbon and membrane, Auto shut off switch+float valve (EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THAT)

  3. I made a short video of some of the booths, I wish I had more time to get more footage. I couldn't figure out how to post the video directly so I'll just post a link for it on my YouTube.  For the peeps that couldn't make it, here is some eye candy.

My favorite from the show, found a really cool blue base white polyp Sarcophyton  and it came with a piece of Lithophylon!  Red Devil Discosoma shroom, a green form short polyp Goni, a Chalice I forget the name of, I think some form of Mycedium. A corky gorgonian, branching Cyphastrea, a random zoa polyps, purple and green Caulastrea and a green frogspawn.

This was my first ever frag swap so I went a little crazy! We had a great time and it was full of smiles and fun people!

    THANK YOU!! IMG_20230523_122103140.jpgIMG_20230523_122123038.jpg

  5. This is my 10 gallon soft coral only aquarium, it's almost 2 years old in May. It runs on simple equipment,

Seachem tidal 55 HOB filter. 50 watt heater with a dual control inkbird, for the summer I run small fans with the inkbird to keep evap cooling. Auto aqua smart ATO. Aqua Illumination Nero 3 running on a custom schedule. Last but not least my budget LED light from Amazon, NICREW Marine strip light.

Oh and I'm using my glorious Portland 13 TDS tap water with just a sedimentary filter and 2 high capacity carbon blocks, no RO or DI stages

  7. Hey reefers! Im new to the forum in the Portland OR area, been keeping reefs for almost 2 years now. it started when I was working at all things aquarium in willsonville, (just cleaning the freshwater tanks) the owner Arron got me into the salty game. I had to leave due to vehicle problems, loved working at that shop, and miss it every day lol

I have 2 reefs at the moment, the oldest a 10 gallon tank filled with softies, a pistol shrimp goby pair and a clownfish, and my newer tank is a Waterbox Marine 45.2 with some zoa's, LPS and a bubble tip anemone. 2 clowns, tail spot Blenny, Royal Gramma and Mandarin Dragonet. I can post separate threads of my tanks if y'all would like to see, although nothing special lol.

Love to talk anything fish with people, glad to join this community
