One subtle detail to highlight.  The water chamber your return pump is in, is the only place water evaporation shows up.  The smaller you make this box, the more important your ATO (auto-top off) system is.    My personal preference is to make this chamber as large as possible.

Think of the scenario where you scoop a gallon of water out of your tank, in order to bag up a fish or coral and transport them somewhere.   Do you have enough water in the return pump chamber so the level can drop - but pump doesn't run dry?    (Of course, you'll put a gallon of freshly made salt water back in.)

Same scenario, but you syphon out 5 gallons of tank water to do a water change.   Does that chamber have an extra 5 gallons so you can leave the return pump running, or are you forced to turn it off.

This is my preference for sump proportioning.

That's Really good info. ill make sure to test that when i set it up. the current tank i got is a 65g with a 20g sump. also do you have an ATO reccomendation? ive only used a cheap one i found on amazon and it failed on my 40breeder

I think it's preferred to have the return on the shortest route back into display, but I don't think it'll be a problem. Are you going to use a heater?

Yes, itll most likely be in the middle chamber

  4. i really appreciate the offer! but I can't drive that far at the moment.

I have a great 120 that @obrien.david.j is familiar with. Picked it up but upgraded before I ever got to set it up. It's yours if you want it! Downside is, I'm in Kennewick, WA. I come down occasionally to play at Lincoln City and oggle at CNC, but as of right now, no trip is planned. If you want to come get it, it's yours!

Jae - do you want to describe what you're interesting in more.

    • Are you looking for a fully setup and running turn-key system?
    • Are you looking for bare bones, tank only - which you'll do everything else to
    • you have a 40gal today.  What size are you looking for?   gallons and/or physical size

I'm sure there's options out there for you.

Actually i dont wanna go over 120 gallons, but other than that im not picky.

  6. im looking for the tank and sump, but i can always make a sump so thats not as big a worry. as far as sizing and style i dont have a preference just wanna increase water volume and learn how to maintain a sump system as my current 40 gallon is an AIO. TBH im going with the what tank i find is what ill work with XD

  7. I had an order from them recently it went fine, i ended up getting some snails and a small frag to get the free shipping. TBF the zoa frag i got didnt look like the picture much more dull but as it goes with online corals. the nudis were really well packaged
