1. Thanks! Indeed, I just went through a 3 month fight with ich in my tank. Moved all invert, nems and coral out to a QT and treat DT with Ick Shield power and it seems working. Moved everything inside right before one year mark. Lost some snails, one rainbow BTA and a torch in the QT process but all fish doing great! Looking forward to a better restart!

2. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I started reefing! Saltwater reef keeping isn’t an easy task and I have gone down a bumpy road and made several mistakes but luckily I survived first year without crashing my tank, with the help and valuable advice from you guys. I am truly grateful! [emoji56]

3. I kept seeing these little bugs crawling around coral plugs even after several Revive dips. They died after dip but will show up few days later on plugs again. Any possible ID on them?

4. Im not sure what causes it. I didnt cut off the dead head. The other head looked happy and healthy so the thought of cutting it off never even crossed my mind. A few months after it died i moved it just for aesthetic purposes only and actually used the dead head/stem to glue from in the new location.

I think I found the culprit! Just witnessed skunk cleaner shrimp scavenged the polyps from torch coral! I am not sure if it is because that torch head is weak and dying or shrimps just got too hungry! I didn’t feed them in QT often enough I guess! I thought they were reef safe!

6. Mine never came back just literally disappeared overnight.  It will grow new ones to replace the lost

Can this be caused by brown jelly disease? Should I cut off the empty head?

7. I had a hammer coral loose a head over night a few months ago. The other head has never showed any negative signs and is still healthy to this day. I never figured out what the cause was.

I guess disappearing as clean as in my case, that head can assume to be a goner ? :(

8. It might be expelling zooxanthellae, aka “pooping”. Have you seen any brown stringy stuff? Sometimes happens if the lighting has been changed.

No pooping observed but It has been like that closed for days. I measured water parameters and found ALK at 6.7kH and NO3 at 20ppm. Not sure if this is the reason but I immediately did a 60% WC and brought ALK to 7.8 and reduce NO3 to 8. And will slowly bring ALK to 8.4 ish.

9. Sometimes if there is an algae bloom it can help for sure.  If it is on the rocks and glass, perhaps not as much.
What kind of algae are you battling?
The biggest thing that helped me with algae was changing my feeding.  Only ocean plankton and nori now.  Pretty much wiped out my algae.  stylaster set me up with that tip and I am grateful, passing it along...
YMMV but it is an easy change and worth considering depending on your situation.

Interested in knowing how exactly feeding ocean plankton and nori is?

11. Does it look like cauliflower?

The big one above this one that fell off looks like cauliflower. But this one is too small to tell. Just look like a bump under skin and won't go away. It's been there since 3 weeks ago and stay through Furan 2, cupramine, and pimafix and melafix treatments.

12. I treated him with pimafix and melafix for a week after Furan 2 treatment. The fluffy fungus ball fell off after 4 days of treatment. But the other bump on the tail stayed there for more than 3 weeks. It looks like skin color but not very sure. Based on size and time it stayed, not likely to be ick but I am lost what might this be?

He has been in QT more than a month ago. I wonder if I can transfer him to DT now or should wait for that bump to disappear?

See photo.

13. That is definitely not ich. Fungus will look.. well, I know it sounds stupid.. but it looks like fungus. Like the slightly deflated puffy fungus that you find in a cooler you forgot to empty [emoji4]

After a weak of pimafix and melafix, the big fluffy ball fell off, but if you notice there is another small dot on the tail below the big fluff (visible in the picture I uploaded), which still persists. That small dot has been there more than two weeks, even before I start the Pima treatment so it's unlikely it's ick. But I wonder why that dot still stays and should I continue pimafix and melafix?

Thanks so much for the offer. But I already purchased both pimafix and melafix.
