  2. I've had this tang for a week. It's been in quarantine the entire time, and yesterday I noticed this mark on the side. Assuming I can get the pictures to work, does anybody recognize this? <div style="width:480px;text-align:right;"><embed width="480" height="360" src="http://pic2.pbsrc.com/flash/rss_slideshow.swf" flashvars="rssFeed=http://feed36.photobucket.com/albums/e22/boases/feed.rss"type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" /><a href="javascript:void(0);" target="_blank"><img src=" http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_geturs.gif" style="border:none;" /></a><a href="http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e22/boases/" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_viewall.gif" style="border:none;" alt="boases's album on Photobucket" /></a></div> Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Good info. Thanks everyone! I'm going to try reducing the amount of GFO a lot and see if I can put together an algae scrubber. Maybe I can remove the GFO altogether if I get something like that going. I don't have much in the tank yet, but after I can get some corals filling out there will hopefully be clams in my future. Always a process!
  4. A few months ago I started running carbon and GFO on my tank. It's a fairly new setup and I was having trouble with hair algae. Phosphates were reading pretty low, but I assumed that was because the algae was affecting my readings. Anyway, the algae is under control now, but a few of my corals seemed to stall or regress at the same time. A Duncan, star polyp colony and torch have all seemed to limp along since then. I'm running the amount recommended by BRS, and the tank is still producing some algae. I even have a bit of coralline beginning to grow. Just wondering what people think ought to be the next step to help the corals out. Thanks, all!
  5. Thanks, everyone! I'd love to make it to a meeting, and based on xmas_one's suggestion, I stopped at Colby's store and it's amazing. I will definitely be back in there soon with a little cash and big dreams.
  6. I'm fairly new to the hobby, as I bought a 180 gallon tank over a year ago. It was a predator tank and seemed like a good deal. Long story short, the fish weren't healthy and I ended up out of the hobby before I could really start with a large, empty tank in my garage. The plus side was that the tank had come with some nice lights, and I never did shake the desire to get back to the hobby. Now, I have the start of a reef with a few corals and fish to go along with a fair bit of new equipment and a 75 gallon tank on the same system that will hopefully become my refugium with some colorful macro algae. Anyway, I'm enjoying the hobby and learning more all the time, much from this forum, as it were. Glad to jump aboard and looking forward to learning more and perhaps one day contributing!
