  1. Hey everyone, I am trying to track down enough salt water to fill my new 120.  I currently have about 50ish gallons in it, so I am probably in need of ~100 gallons.  Also willing to buy a rodi instead if someone has one in good condition that I can use to fill up this tank.

  2. From left to right: Emergency drain, siphon drain, standard drain, return.  I will most likely split the return at the right overflow using a T and have it come out of both sides.

Anyone have any tips for cleanly cutting out the center brace?  Would a 2x6 or 2x4 spanning above the brace, inside the stand, be enough to support the tank with a floating center brace, or would you recommend building leg supports as well, pretty much reinforcing the top->bottom weight distribution.  I believe the wood that was used on there is like a 1x4, at best.

  3. Alright, so I finally have some items coming together for the 120 build.  I am planning on doing a modified herbie to quiet it down, I am unsure about the durso system so I thought I might try something I found on the internet.  My wife and I refinished the stand that we bought with the tank, but I am unhappy with the center brace because it is huge and gets in the way.  I am thinking of supporting the boards above it with a 2x4 and cutting out the center brace and maybe putting a magnet on it so that I can still use it, for the doors, but be able to remove it so I can remove my sump.  I currently cannot remove the sump because it is freaking too tall and long, but if I remove the brace I will be good to go.  Anyways here is a picture as it currently sits.  I will upload some more of the piping when I am done gluing it.

  4. Hi Vance, and welcome.  Just started back up again, and have been getting a lot of help from the people here on the forums so you are in a good place.  To reiterate, read read and read some more.  I spend more time reading than cleaning the tank that I just got that needs to now have a stand built... oh and the floor  braced... oh and and and :)

  5. you can pm me if youre interested with your phone number and ill relay the message to him

Yeah I've been talking to Dave, but I waffled on the decision and there is someone else ahead of me. He has been a great guy on the phone, so I hope it all works out for him, but I definitely wouldn't mind buying it if the buyer backed out.

  6. It's been a little over a decade since I last had a tank, but like most it crashed hard when I wasn't paying attention ([language filter] you school!). But now that I have time/money/space (pick 2) I thought it would be nice to see what is out there, and I happened to run into this forum while browsing for tanks in Portland. Long story short, nice to meet you all.

  7. Wouldn't mind getting pieces together from others, but I'm just getting back into a reef/fish tank but want to see if anyone is getting out of the hobby first before I get individual pieces together. Thanks!
