  1. There is a much more robust answer to your question Paratore, I will still keep my eye out for the article I was mentioning.

    Thank Jman.

Quick Cure  is Malachite Green and Formalin. There are similar brands on the market with the same ingredients, such as Rid Ich.  Paragon and Paragon 2 are other brands of medication that worked well.  Most folks use copper sulfate, Coppercure or other similar meds for Cryptocaryon and Oodinium. I have used Metronidazole with good results for Cryptocaryon. So does Quinine Sulphate. Chloriquine is another option. Keep an eye on the ammonia, as it totally breaks down biological activity.

This article may be helpful http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-07/sp/feature/index.htm

Also, this list includes a lot of brand names and should be helpful in locating medications. http://www.feamane.org/pages/fish_meds.html

Thank you both for all of the informations! Would you guys recommend hypo salinity or copper? What are the pros and cons of both?

  2. Well now that I have your attention, I have two tangs in a quarantine tank (hippo tang and Yellow tang) and the hippo has ICK which means the other one isn't far behind. I have used Quick Cure before to cure fish of ick but I am about to run out in the next day or two and they discontinued the product. What medications do you guys recommend I use instead?

    Thanks!!!

Not quit sure how to load pictures.

  4.  I have a number of montiporas hanging out in my tanks, what colors, types, sizes you looking for?

I am looking for a wide range of montiporas, so I have not settled on any one type or color. I would love to get some diversity in the tank so I am open to all types, shapes, and colors. I do know that I would like to get some purple and orange color into the tank eventually though!

Right now I only have small frags of red monti cap, they are really just pieces that have broken off the main colony, but we could put them all on a rock and they'll grow together in no time. I'd be willing to pass them along for free if you're interested. I'm in corvallis, feel free to pm me if interested. I'm also willing to share advice, but badxgillen is the one to go to if you really need some solid advice!

    Thank you! PM sent!

  5. I am finally starting to venture out into the world of SPS! I am looking for some pieces of Monti to buy. I live in the corvallis area so if you are around here and have some monti frags you wouldn't mind parting with let me know!  Either shoot me a PM or comment. Thanks!

Also, free advice on keeping SPS is always appreciated!!

  6. Thank you theclark for the feed back.  I might have to just observe this frag swap and see how it all works unless someone responds to this wanting me to bring something to trade.

On another note, how often do these things happen?

  7. So this is my first ever Frag Swap so I was hopping you guys could answer some of my general questions.

I am relatively new to the hobby and therefor do not have some of the higher end corals to trade. Are people generally only interested in the higher end stuff or a little bit of everything?

For example some things I have are..

    -Kiwi Zoas

    -Eagle eye Zoas

    -Armor of Gods

    -Green Bay Packers

    -Brown Star Polyps

-and some other zoa/polpys i don't know the name of and will attach pictures of.

Are people interested in the lower end stuff like this or should I just pass on bringing stuff to trade?

Thats awesome! I love OSU, its a blast here!

  9. I am looking to add a DIY Auto top off to my system to help maintain constant salinity. I have heard of a few different ideas but I was wondering what you guys have found works for you? I am open to all ideas so please share what your set up is to help me figure out what will work best for my system. I have a 55 gallon tank with about a 20 gallon sump/refugium.

  11. Welcome Cody! If you make it back by April 12th, we have a Guest Speaker giving a presentation. Bob Fenner will be telling us about the Collecting Station he helped open in Fiji! We hope to see you there!
