  1. Hi Everyone - I'm selling extra rock that i have.

Dry Rock - Reef Saver: $1.50 per pound

I have at least 100lbs of dry rock that HAS been fully cycled for about ~2 months. Big and small pieces.

Live Rock - Mostly Pukani with some Fiji: $3.50 per pound

This rock has no pests, has been in a fully maintained tank and has some nice coraline growing on it. Big and small pieces.

I'm located in SW Portland near Multnohmah Village. Please send me a message for more details/inquires.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  2. Almost 4 weeks in and there is already coraline and various filter feeders growing on the glass. Have had no major algea, just minor diatom blooms which the cleaner crew take care of.

I'm a terrible photographer, these are all cell pics.

  3. Great polyp extension in the new tank. Switched to red sea coral pro which has been working out incredibly well for me so far. Levels have been completely stable since day 1.

  4. Boom! There it is. Almost touches the ceiling. Have not finished the rock work yet. Going to be connecting the two structures together with a tall arch to fill in the upper space a bit. Also, the corals are sitting around on the sandbed. It will open up nicely once it's all done. [emoji1]

  5. Big weekend of setting up the new tank, finally!! It's taken months but will be well worth the wait.

Everything has been moved to a large holding tote so I guess I'm committed to doing this!

  6. All I will say is that I'm so glad I am not impressed with this new generation Apex because I won't feel the need to spend more money anytime soon by upgrading :-) Visually, not a fan and the feature enhancements don't merrit the cost of upgrading, imo.

I do hope the improved Apex Web interface/app is compatible with the "legacy" Apex... I assume it will be.

  7. I feel silly asking this after Richard Ross's presentation discussing all the endless debates as to what is a good salt and why.... but...

With my current tank, I have always used Kent Marine. For whatever reason, i decided to try Red Sea Coral pro on my new 150 gallon tank that i'm currently building. I noticed that the alkalinity mixes at +11-12dkh! This is much higher than i try to run my tank, usually 9.5 dkh, so i'm concerned about the potential impact of this high a level as i transfer in my inhabitants from the old tank. Yes, i read a lot of other forums about this salt but wanted to get the local groups input.

Who has used this salt and was this an issue/concern for you?

If i was using it for a water change, i would not be worried but starting a new tank at the high of a level worries me. I heard adding some muriatic acid can help drop the Alk..

    Thanks!
