  1. This morning his tail stopped declining in size. I'm cleaning 50% again today. It appears good for now!
  2. Yeah, I knew that it wasn't smart as soon as I put them in the qt tank. I know better; I've done it enough times. My tang is losing tail by the hour, so it may be too late. I have some sand in my qt tank, do u recommend it to have rock too? Most people I here just say bare bottom. Would it just make my life easier to use more live sand and live rock with a skimmer?
  3. It's definitely my water quality. I'm doing a 50% water change tonight. I've got high nitrites. If I clean up those nitrites will he heal?
  4. My yellow eye kole tang came down with ich I my quarantine tank and has gotten rid of it with copper. However, this morning the lower half off his tail was chewed up. His whole tail has a white frosty tint to it and he doesn't move it at all. He acts as if it's not there though. What could this be? Thanks, Trenton
  5. I put in live copepods and he does eat them, but not enough. He seems to be getting more reclusive and won't come out of hiding, what do I do? I've tr everything at this point.
  6. Thanks, I'll try that. Does that mean feeding once a day is fine?
  7. It's a full grown one and I don't know if the sandbox is deep enough or not. In the spot that he is in the sand is 3.5-4 inches deep. He acts fine. I also am not sure because he dug way to the bottom in a pit and lays in the hole, is this normal or is it because of lack of depth that he isn't digging a tunnel type hole?
  8. He stays underneath a rock that he dug the sand out of. Within that pot, there is a hole off to the side he backs into and hides.
  9. I'm still curious to know about the jawfish though. But will adding live rock help?
  10. When I forst put my Jawfish in the tank I was feeding twice a day and he was really active. Now I've only been feeding once a day because of nitrates. Is he not being as active because I don't feed twice a day. It almost feels like my tank is more boring since I stopped the second feeding. I'm starting it again, but how do I keep the nitrates back? They seem to stay at 10-15. I only have 30 pounds of live rock in my 55 though, and I was going to get some more, but is that the cause of my nitrates? The fact I that I don't have enough bacteria.
  11. I live in Jefferson Oregon and I go to the Premium Aquarium in Salem.
  12. Spirulina brine and mysis. I have tried garlic and got nothing. I'm going to my lfs to pick up some live brine or live copepods. Or should I try both so that I can get him into frozen shrimp?
  13. My gold head sleeper goby was put in the tank last Saturday. I got a pair and the one eats, but the other still hasn't! They're in quarantine, what do I do?
  14. And anyone have any ideas on getting my gold head sleeper to eat?
  15. So it would be fine to just add a tiny bit of powder to my shrimp?
  16. I had an ammonia spike in my quarantine. My tang was acting strange. It's at about .5. How large of a clean do I do?
  17. I know we put garlic extract in our fish food, but could u DIY that? I don't want to test without insight, but what if you fit garlic powder in boiling water and make it yourself? I know this sounds far fetched, but could it work?
  18. Once you go under 45 gallons it's pretty hard to fit the bigger fish in them. It sucks, but it's just another excuse to go larger!
  19. That's what I thought. However, is it too broad of a question for an estimate on the tank?
  20. That's why I want to know what the price is. Just so I could know. It's most likely not to happen, but I'm just curious.
  21. I have a 55 gallon aquarium if you didn't already know. I bought a roughly 3.5 inch yellow eye kole tang. Before any of you freak out on me though, because I do agree, I will remove home at 4.5-5 inches. I agree that they need plenty of swimming room, which is why I got a small tang. Also, I probably couldn't do it, but since tangs love long tanks, how much, roughly would a 180 gallon full setup cost. This includes enough live rock and sand. Plus I'm definitely talking about the sump and stand and other equipment. If anyone has a 180, could I get a rough number. I just kind of want to know. Thanks Trenton
  22. True! But I don't have any. I guess they would all have to go on rocks to insure safety.
  23. I've seen a lot of other aquariums with corals on the sand and they are just fine. I would say that it would probably be best if you were going to go with corals on the sand, that you had no smaller than a 90g. And last question, can dried nori expire?
