  1. I do weekly water changes only 2 sticks mostly softies and lps. Yes stopped testing and dosing for sometime figured weekly water changes would be fine since I don't have anything that consumes. Or I thought then noticed algae and red slim going nuts in my tanks. That's what alerted me to an issue. So now testing and doing small doses twice a day plus I sectioned off my tank into 3 equal sections and started cleaning the sand well. Each section I stir for 7 days before I move to the next to get anything that might be an issue. Sand is finally looking clean algae is gone just working on alk and my ph. Everything else tests fine. Well a little high on nitrates but I think it will go down with the cleaning. As for dosing doing it manually. I can't afford at this moment dosing pumps. It seems to be working even if it's a lot of work

  2. no idea how they are still alive but they are. And Im using Kent. which as soon as I run out will be going back to Red Sea Coral Pro. I have started testing 2 times a day to try to dial things back in.

  3. I checked parameters on Kent 3 times and all 3 times it was different. I decided to stop doing water changes with it til I purchase something different. I never did buy something different and did 0 water changes for close to six months. Guess what happened? Green hair algae, bubble algae, cyano, bryopsis and some weird slimy film in my frag tank dissappeared. Yes, I checked my ro/di, rinsed frozen food religiously, was not overstocked in my 280, and it wasn't til I quick water changes that I noticed an improvement.

Yep going threw that right now....fighting it like crazy... I just don't remember having this issue before with Kent but then I switched to coral pro for some time. I just got a great deal on the Kent and didn't have any issues in the past until now....ok I'm going to try the no water changes unless I have too. Can't hurt .

  4. Looks like we had the very same issue.. my tank was around 68ish for some time and my alk dropped. Yes gsp didn't care, everything else not so much. I was trying the no heater in my 10 which caused my mushrooms to run and melt. In the mean time dealing with that,my 20 was crashing due to low alk and high nitrates. Yes over feeding I know. Good times now in there with algae and Cyano. Yeah I feel for the migraines . Don't give up it's a step back but it works out. Don't feel bad it happens.

  5. I feel your pain... it happens almost crashed out my 10 gallon and my nuvo 20. managed to save some of my corals but did lose some and some of my fish, for some reason both tanks alk crashed and the ph dropped down and got a large algae and cyno. break out, but I think I finally got everything back and the corals are starting to looking a little more alive. I just keep pushing on and learning what I did or didnt do right. :) but it does suck alot

  6. yep have one in my 10 gallon tank all alone because she/he is such a jerk. Even picks on the 2 hermit crabs.. but we like her/him. Just cant put much with her/him

  7. The easiest way to dial alk would be to test, wait 24hrs and test again- dose accordingly and then I usually test 15-20min after dosing when first dialing to ensure I dosed correctly.

Then I usually test once a week from then on (usually before a water change) to make sure the Params are solid.

ok will do now Im testing 3 different tanks LOL just trying to get it dialed in

  8. Would love to know as well. Fighting my low alk finally got it up now to just keep it there. I had all my tanks drop too low.. oh and the Nuvo 10 is cycling. Just need to get a light for it right now just have a pro-life mini on it.
