We did this in Atlanta twice a year. Would also be interested in a shop tour where we all load up in a van or two and drive around do all the different shops in town. each shop offers a discount or special on something, etc.

Fun activity and you get to know the shops you may not be too familiar with.

Use new sand. It makes a BIG difference. Sand is a hot bed for detritus and is just a junk trap. Go new anytime you move the tank.

I've had both. I just recommend doing soft to anything that connects to the return pump. Other then that... Hard pvc is quiet.

Best thing I have done for Copepods in the tank was to take a large piece of pvc pipe (4" diameter), drill a ton of 1/4" holes all over it. Spaced 1/4" apart. Then fill with live rock rubble. Cap the ends so the rubble doesn't come out. Then set it at the back of the tank out of sight.

I had a dragonet that would perch on this thing and hunt the critters that came out. Great for Copepod populations in the tank.
