  1. So when I was in the hobby back in the day I was extremely serious about acclimation. Then after years of being in the hobby, I noticed a few things with my livestock.

I noticed I had more long term success by using classic freshwater acclimation. The ol float bag and dump.

I tried to always keep my water at .24 which to me was close enough to anyone else's reef tank salinity and same as local fish store.

I never did introduce water from bag to tanks. I started floating and would dump some of my tank water into bag and then max 30 min they are out of bag and Into QT or whatever. I would even test bag saltwater to see salinity but nobody I ever bought from had less than .23 salinity. So I gave up doing that step and just did my regular steps. This went for everything I dont care what the critter is.

    What is everyone's opinion nowadays?

Anyone own this brand? I have a spot with built cabinetry which is max 40L inches by 20w and height is like 27 inches. You can see a pic in the general discussion thread I posted. Unless I go custom which I won't, I'm looking at this brand or just a basic 40 gal breeder with upgrades which will cost 200 to 300 bucks less from my calculations and give me 4 more inches in height.

So sell me or more importantly my wife on this brand. I can't fit a redsea, jbj etc as they are all 23 inches wide. Needs to be aio rectangle tank with no sump.

Also.. what fish can even fit in a lagoon? at 13 inches tall I dont want just coral. Would i be better off just getting 40 breeder for added inches. I wish they had a 50 gal fusion pro long as I betcha it would just be more height and footprint would be same.

  3. Sheesh I didn't even look at for sale stuff on forum. Been out of the loop for awhile.

Right now I am in between IM fusion pro 2 40L as it will fit in there or just 40 gal breeder with aio fujicube kit

I'm going to search forum for reviews on IM fusion tanks and its only 13 inches high which is concerning as I dont want just a frag tank.

  4. So I'm back:) anyone own one of these fluval 32 gal flex?. I just posted in general discussion asking about good aio systems. I can fit bigger but I might just end up going with more of a nano tank. So what is the nano community opinion on a good but not uber expensive aio aquarium? Jbj or corallife biocube or fluval etc etc. I don't want a ton of modes and from everything I have read the fluval is out competing biocubes now that it came out.

  5. So I've been out of the hobby for a few years as I sold my house and my fish tank lol. But I miss saltwater so thinking about getting a new tank. I wasn't thinking anything big like my old 75 gal with 38 gal sump, but instead, one of these AIO tanks. First thought was basic jbj or coralife biocube. But now we have a bunch like the fluval 32 gal flex. Red sea and rimless waterbox which is too expensive for my taste etc.

if you see attached picture looks Kinda like a built in stand huh:) I cannot have a sump though. But I wouldn't mind filling this space which to be safe would be 40 inches long and 18 inches wide. The height can't be more than 21 inches. So I have good access as max is 30 inches. Looks like I could do maybe 50 gal or even up to 60 if dimensions are correct.

So any good suggestions for aio systems in this size range? I can just go with all these 32 gal but might as well fill this space up.

    Thanks

  6. Welcome! What type of tank you want? Fowlr (fish only with live rock) or reef?

What type of coral you want to keep if you want a reef tank? Some corals like a little dirty water but let me tell you something. Everything everyone told ya is important, especially water changes.

Invest in good salt and do water changes. Oh and quarantine your fish!

  7. I'm located in Independence which is down by Salem and I see a few post selling nems but they are far away sadly:(

So that brings me to my post! If anyone has a Rose colored or whatnots for 30 or under please let me know.

    Thanks.

Good to hear!  What pressure did you end up getting with the booster and what is your new ratio?  Kind of nice to hear some real world stats.

I run mine from outside faucet to garage so numbers should 'according to manufacturer' get even better come summertime.

    Here are the numbers:

*Outside faucet psi 60. Tested by city with me watching lol.

*From faucet to unit the psi went down to 45psi.

*smart buddie booster boosted it to 100psi more like 105/110🤔 if my gauge is accurate.

According to manufacturer it's supposed to boost it to 100psi. So I don't know but it isn't leaking or bursting so that good!

I am now literally getting 1 gal filtered water to like 2 maybe 3 gal waste. I couldnt be happier about the difference.

    Warning**

My measuring is using two five gal water jugs and sitting in garage with 🍺 watching YouTube and the waste water jug lol. But I have some OCD so fairly accurate😁

  9. Ok so I'm going to hit you experts hard and fast now that I'm back')

Pic is a recent purchase:) the RO buddie without DI as I need a little tds for my lps and softies that I like. I tested the water at 3 tds which is perfect for me. But I'm wasting 5 to 7 gal per gallon. This can't be right from everything I have read and seen. What can I do?

This is the first ro unit for me! I see that aquatic life offers a booster that supposedly save up to 65% but 100 bucks etc.

    Thanks

Hi there! I remember you. I believe you had a smiley face as an avatar before.  Welcome back. Personally I don't like hermit crabs. They mainly help with detritus but like you said you can get buy with other options that are more useful. They do not eat algae and they would constantly steal food out of the anemone or other things I would target feed.

A wise person once said claws and reefs do not mix well.  Having said that they are fun to watch in a tank and there are some cool ones such as the Halloween hermits but the  Conchs do as good a job as a clean up crew and also just as entertaining to watch but can knock stuff over.

I tend to surround myself with things that are useful and serve some sort of purpose which reminds me ... (are you interested in some Bengal cats I will make you a deal.. ;) )

Lol yup! That was me with the smiley face. I agree I love those little hermits but they do bad things alot. I would like to see who is a defender of the crabs haha. I'm glad to see youre doing good ol Emerald. One day I will meet ya!

  11. According to the website ie. Google. It's a mix bag if hermits are good or bad.

First, I would like to say thank you to all my experience reefer friends that I have meet and talked to through the years. You can always look at my tank build in 2012 and some of my post to see I have been around for a bit but not always active on forum or reefing. My tank has been set up since 2012 but through 4 tank moves. I've owned fish for over 20 yes and know a bit lol even if I can't seem to keep them alive all the time.

So, I'm back! Maybe is my mild bipolar or the fact that my wife is pregnant and this is my nesting behavior lol... ladies??🤔

So im done squirrelling and back to the question??

I'm leaning towards hermits being bad. Seems they harrase and eat crap you don't want. I'm going snails and my urchin, counch etc. For now on.

  12. So twice I have had my urchin do the deed! I have zero idea if it's a good thing or not (the sperm part). but my boy here will first Umm poop I suppose unless pincushins are hermaphrodites and then once he has clouded the tank with what Google says is sperm.

He goes to top of tank at the same place and poops what look like sand.

  13. Thanks Mike! Nice to meet ya today. Told Ya! Cleaning house and starting over. Pic is washed out because of lights and phone. But you can see toadie is opening up and anenomes moved off the rock and slightly irritated but heck they can move hah! I moved the Kenya tree which is happy and starting to get uncramped to the middle with my frogspawn and poor bubble that I've have been trying to kill:/

    thanks again!

  14. Thanks Robert, everything I gotz from you is doing great:) those at least are growing lol. Will snap some pics to show u when I can. It's just so strange that this bugger is a pain in the butt. The acan literally right next to it is happy. I believe that ywg in pic and all my other critters seem always be on it and crap too. I will try and find some shade for it but my tank isn't set up for shade. At least not where you want an acan.

  15. Ok acan lovers what's going on with this frag. I have had it for months and it just doesn't want to grow or anything and now looks to be bleaching. I think I need to find it shade. Other green acan frag as u can see is a ok. As is my other ops corals etc. It is turning orange from red so I believe it's a light issue. 30ab8cd7931c393221ef379f60b65975.jpg
