I have a spare 210 aga thats just sitting in my garage. Thinking of doing a cold water tank since the shark tank idea is out. Thanks noobtosalt for clearing things up for me! Could someone give me a run down on what all is involved in starting a cold water tank? what all do I need to run one also?

If he did' date=' he's taking a loss after factoring in the shipping cost. It looks like a good deal, if you're in the market for something like this.[/quote']
Thats why I was asking. I would of sent it back lol.

Did you buy this off of ebay?

So much for sitting chatting with the owner when someone knew walks in. Im sure the feel the need to watch everyone closely. I dont blame them at all. Personally I would be paranoid and telling people to leave there bags at the door. I think they should all put a camera and a monitor on the entrance so you see your face when you walk in the door. Pretty easy to identify people that way.
What good does that do? The damage would of already been done...they need some kind of copper tester in each tank to set off an alarm...or put locks on all the tanks with like a master key. sounds drastic but you can never be to paranoid...
I would hate to be a LFS owner. I get nerves when I see my 2 year old running around with pennies. I can only imagine how they feel!

Nice tank/score!!
you should look into the shark thing, everything I have heard is that they need a much deeper tank than what you have, somewhere along the line of 3-4x their length.
PM noobtosalt, he "tried" sharks, you could learn form his "experiances" both good and bad.
Yeah i've been reading about the bamboo shark. they require a minimum of 160 gallon tank. as juveniles they are only about 7 inches long. the problem is I wanted a bigger tank because I need more room for all the corals. Well I just got off the phone with my LFS guy. apparently they are ok with corals. but they need to be secured really good. and the skimmer I just bought isnt big enough :( I just spent 350 on it too. I'll def give jesse a call and see what he says! thnx

I vote shark tank!!!! You can always nix the shark and go reef with it; two tanks can be really annoying though.
Yeah I have a 20g that I just shut down last week. It was overgrown with hair algae.
-
Man thats crazy!! Whats the point in doing that anyways?
-
Haha that's pretty humorous...well not for you (or the chair) I would imagine
not at the time but everyone got a chuckle out of it afterwards!

Nice score ' date=' no acrylic for you (laugh) (laugh)[/quote']
Everyone keeps telling me to do acrylic I just am not sold on it yet. I've heard bad stories about acrylic.

Reef or big fishies???
I was thinking either transferring everything from my 76g or making it a shark tank. The only thing that bothers me is the scratches. That's why I was considering getting a shark and blue spotted ray. My wife likes those.

Wow thats a smokin deal grats to you =)
Thank you!

Last week I was using a chair to reach inside my tank to move my corals around. the back of the chair has been broken for some time. I forgot about it. rested my weight on the back of the chair. back broke off. fell pretty quickly but that sad part was my...hmmm...fun bags landed right on the top part of the broken back. heres a picture of the chair not broke and then broke. I might not have ripped, drilled or cut myself open but I sure wish I had at the time!

Zoas are shriveling up. Please help
in General Discussion

2 weeks ago my star polyps decided not to come out in the morning. its been like that. then a few days ago my eagle eyes and dragons started to shrivel up. the only thing different that has been done to my tank was the new zoas I had won from noob. but everything was doing great up until the star polyps. I did a water change yesterday thinking that might help. nope. I ordered KM Coral-vite in hopes that might help. I dont want to lose all my coral. what could it possibly be?
btw I have AI Sols so its not the lighting I think
Sorry I'm rambling but I'm freaking out here
