  3. I too have the same issue when I go in there. customer service is very lacking. you could stand there all day and no one would approach you. Ray does know me by name but he still doesnt initiate a conversation until I say something to him. as for prices, the only thing I buy from him is frozen food and fish. most of the stuff I need as far as equipment, I can find online for alot cheaper. for the store, its amazing! I could spend hours looking at all the intersting fish and coral he has on display. a little jealous of all the leds he has hanging up too $$$$. I am in gold beach and this is the closet LFS around me aside from carsons critters in brookings and that place is a joke.

  4. I actually mix 2 capsules of pure dried garlic in my frozen food for feeding. regardless if they have ich or not. I had it once and (knock on wood (gavel) ) have never had it again! its all about prevention

  5. I have a 76 gallon with a 35 gallon sump/fuge. I used to do 20% water changes every 2 weeks. my zoas started to shrivel up and die in the display tank. I've sinced moved all my zoas into the refugium of my sump and have stopped doing water changes. it has been a month or 2 since the last water change. my corals have thrived in the fuge. I have a skimmer rated at 200 gallons and in the fuge is rock and chaeto. I am also running a phosban reactor.

Do I need to do water changes more often?

Why were they dying off with biweekly water changes?

also noted that I can not grow any hard coral or sponge. they seem to die off really quickly

  6. I've had my cold water tank going for a few months now. I live on the coast in gold beach. I have yet to put a chiller on mine and the temp spikes at most 67 degrees. I was told by Josh from coldwateraquatics that maintenance is less excruciating then with tropical. I am going through the cycles stages of my tank and have yet to do a water change or really anything for that matter. as for the tank. I have a 210 glass tank. no sweating at all. even my 40l sump doesnt sweat. one thing I advise, dont use the dark colored sand from the beach. nothing shows up in the tank. If I were to do it again I would just get white/brown sand that way everything crawling around shows up!
