100 gallon reef at 1 year and 3 months age.

I was gone all day week ago and the house A/C was off and the house was closed up. Tank was at 84F. I bought a cheap clip on fan and with the cabinet open i can keep it around 80F.

The Animal House is in Corvallis. Ive been there a couple times before i found The Premium Aquarium.

My clown fish wanted nothing to do with my RBTA for months, then one day i was eating dinner and looked up at the tank and the clown was in the anemone. He hasnt left it since.

Cruz backed out due to injury. Faber is fighting Renan Barao. The Rich Franklin fight has also been removed from the card.

My wife and I would love to learn how to better use our camera, very nice of you to be offering this. I bought her a DSLR last year and i dont think it has ever been off the auto setting. But even on auto it takes way better pics than our cheapo point and shoot cameras did.

Thank you everyone for all the good info.

what is everone using to dose alk? Like i said, i had some success with kent super dkh but stopped using it cause it didnt seem to effect my ph. the seachem raises the ph but doesnt seem to effect alk.
-
I don't check my pH all that often. Chasing perfect pH numbers is usually what leads to disasters. I pay the most attention to Alk, Calc and Mag. If all three are in check, you can pretty much guarantee your pH is reasonable. Kh is the one I have to manage on my 10g. Have you considered adding something in your ATO water to help keep your Alk up?
Also, what are your calc and mag levels?
My calcium i dose to keep around 425. My mag stays about at 1300. So i need to get my alk up? Shouldnt it be closer to 9 then to the 6 i usually test at?

+1 on not to be concerned with the PH. Out of curiosity are you using a Calcium reactor-lower PH is common with that type of set up.
I run a Ca reactor and see swings in a 24 hour period of 7.85-8.2 (in the summer when fresh air comes in) I've seen it as low as 7.65-7.95 in the winter.
I haved dosed Kalk and PH buffer etc to try and maintain PH and it was a waste of time and money, my corals never looked better or worse during all that-it was my wallet that looked bad.
IMO forget about the PH and target stable KH
no calcium reactor on this tank.

before i bought the bottle of seachem ph buffer i was using kent super dkh. It worked well at keeping my dkh up where it should be but didnt do much for the ph, maybe ill switch back to that.

Hi All, Im having trouble maintaining my ph for more than a day. I check it about the same time of day. usually reads 7.8-8.0 with a dkh of 6-7. I can add Seachem ph buffer and bring it to 8.2 but in a day or two it will be back to 7.8. I dont think i should be having to put that much buffer in my tank. Is there maybe a better product for ph? Or is there something else im doing wrong?

about 3" of sand bed

that is a good size chip. you shouldnt have a problem sealing the bulkhead with the chips being on the outside. i dont know what the chips will do structurally to than panel of glass though.

if your interested in one of these digitadas i would be interested in some orange monti.

Im jealous. Sounds like an awesome fight card!

finally got a salifert test kit for calcium. calcium measuring 420ppm. big difference from my api kit. been dosing for ph and magnesium, currently at 8.2ph, 9dkh, and 1250 magnesium. I have a candy cane coral that appears to be dying. could my low calcium be the cause? all other corals look good.
-
ok, took a water sample to the lfs. tested calcium at 450. thats what i was afraid of, my api test kit is not working correctly. i tested my stored mixed saltwater and could not get a reading, just like when i test my display. going to try a salifert kit i think.

My API Calcium kit always test 500+' date=' dont use them any more[/quote']
what kit do you use for calcium? i was thinking of buying one tomorrow and retesting already because i didnt want to try to correct a problem if it was a faulty kit.
-
Did you test the pH at the same time of day?
i did full test at about 11 this morning. i read that time of day can effect ph though so i tested ph again about an hour ago and still reading 7.8, which is a little strange because it has always been steady at 8.2.

Hi, im new to the saltwater hobby and have had a 100 gallon tank for about 5 months. everything is doing well in the tank but i have never been able to measure the calcium with my API test kit. it reads higher than 520ppm when tested. all other parameters seem good. using reef crystals salt. PH was stable at 8.2 but when tested today it is at 7.8. alkalinity is at 7dKH. I bought a magnesium test kit yesterday and it is at 1200ppm with my ELOS kit. Could my API test kit for calcium be inaccurate?
