  1. Update

Here is a more recent photo, I moved a few things around and added a couple corals. My lighting is currently four 46.5" VHOs (2 actinic white, 1 pure actinic, 1 454) and one 96 watt power compact. I was running two VHOs and two 175 MHs but had a ballast failure so I switched back to this current setup. I have a twenty gallon sump that houses a filter sock, a rio basic pump, and a no-name protein skimmer that works awesome. My nitrate levels are always undetectable.

    calcium - 420

    mag - 1400

    alk - 9-9.5

    Temp - 77

Fish.. Tomato Clown, Six line wrasse, Sailfin Tang, Pink spotted shrimp goby, Niger Trigger, strawberry Pseudochromis, Pink square anthias

Inverts.. Unknown long tentacle Anemone, Harliquen Shrimp, Sally lightfoot crab, a few turbo snails, and a hermit

  2. This is about a two month old photo. It has changed slightly. This is my first tank and I have owned it for ten months. I started not knowing a thing except that I wanted one. I have had to self teach myself everything with help of random advice and lots of questions at the lfs. The tank was empty when i purchased it.

  3. I have been using brs supplements for my mag., calcium, and alkalinity that i purchase from swf since i started dosing. I am taking swf's word about which are the best to use. It is possible that by selling me there homemade stuff they are making more profit and are telling me that it's the best because of that. But i dont really know. They seem to work fine but i have nothing to compare it too. Also i noticed that the parameters that swf recommends seem to be higher than i've ever read anywhere else. They recommend

magnesium at 1420-1480, Calcium at 420-460, Alkalinity at 9.5-10.5. Any kind of response to this is welcome info.

  4. Not only do i have some terrible photo skills, but I'm surprised i can even figure out how to respond to this in text form, let alone with a photo added! I've tried to post a pic before but it said that my pic was the wrong size or too large?? lol.... Maybe i should start a club TCPTZCWAACI (who are also computer illiterate)!! In our club we could just try to explain our crappy photos

  5. I have four 46.5" vho bulbs over my tank. Half super actinic and half 454 uvl bulbs. It is way noticeable and allows me to run a less-blue bulb in my mh for better coral growth... (thats my unprofessional hypothesis) plus in looks freakin awesome when you shut the mhs down at night for an hour or two before going all dark. I almost enjoy looking at my tank more with the mhs off. I just added these lights in november and i love them. Ice Cap 660 is a good deal.. so far

  6. I had a cinnamon clown of about the same size, it was a good fish for quiet a while when something in it suddenly snapped. I witnessed it daily running into my rocks and coral as hard as it could until it would finally knock something over. It didn't matter how good i glued coral down, it was relentless and the glue would finally give in. Coming home to your tank all messed up on a daily isn't that fun! No more clowns for me, they're not that funny...

  7. I will work on getting some pics up by tomorrow.. also if this means anything, they are only growing in the shade and i did pick off some of these a few months ago that were growing in my sump... in the dark

  8. I've got these small white round "pod" shaped organisms that are attached to my live rock. They are about the size of a half a corn kernel and appear to have an almost invisible "feather duster" type thing sticking out the end. Any ideas???

  9. Before you break out the pitchforks and torches I checked the IP address and the IP address is not shared. So please give them the benefit of a doubt.

I am really real! I wasn't trying to insult anyone. I actually am glad that there has been so many positive replies to my post. I guess there is a lot of people watching and listening that you dont see posting. i think i will reconsider... and i never said this forum sucks, just typing my thoughts

  10. I recently encountered a gentleman that told me of this forum... so i thought i'd check it out. I've been checking it out for the lat two days or so and have come to realize that this page is full of nothing but drama that is unrelated to the "marine aquarium" topic. I was really hoping for a place that a new-comer to the hobby like myself could come to gain knowledge and friendship of others that share my same interests. WEAK!! Good luck selling your clam Andy! Ha
