  1. Thanks for the information everyone!
  2. So.. my birthday is Monday and my wife has complained that I haven't given her ideas. I'm pretty interested in LED lights since I'm still using a 600w MH. Any suggestions? what do you/would you use for a 50gal coral reef tank, that has lots of cool colors too display? I want to do lots of LPS/SPS and only about 3 smaller fish. Cheers, Michael
  3. Here's the rock I grabbed to start my new build 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks back under light with tigerpods and 3 small seed rock pieces.
  4. Another option that worked well for me in the past was going down to a fish store and asking for some of their dirty filter socks. Flip them inside and put em in your tank. Just make sure you're checking the sock for unwanted hitch-hikers. Mandarins aren't really that difficult to care for since your copepod population will grow quickly if you seed it well. I really just love those little guys, so I'm an avid pusher of mandarins.
  5. grab some tiger pods pretty inexpensive way to seed your rock.
  6. Some more of the build, with the stand... Good ole concrete blocks
  7. Hey, ya'll! Here's my new tank, it's been a couple years since my last tank (it was too big). So now I'm just doing a tiny 50gal tall and slender with a 40galsump. I have about 100lbs of rock +/-, some awesome aragonite, and using 1 pump to the 50, and with gravity fed return to the 40. It only has a couple little clowns, a rainbow rose bubble, and the big (not really) chomper to keep a lookout. And now the pics!
  8. It's been a couple years since I've been active in the community. I gotta say, I really like the new site and features, way cool! Looking forward to seeing all of the awesome builds! Below is the start of my new tank, nothing special but yay colors!. Cheers, Michael
  9. So I have roughly 1,200lbs of rock that needs to go. I used to have about 600gal of water in large ponds for coral propagation/fun, a couple years back, and this stuff has just been sitting in water ever since. I would love to trade it for some cool corals and reef friendly fish/inverts as I plan on getting some fine looking torts, zoas in the future. Thanks, in advance! -Michael BTW, It's good to be back amongst all of you!
  10. Hey hows it going, I was referred to this site by a friend of mine so I'd like to introduce myself. I'm currently in Salem, I started a small 40g tank about a month ago (I'll be posting pictures asap) and I am looking forward to being a part of this forum. Cheers, -Mike
