    Deadlines coming up!

    Hotel:

Please note that there are only a few days left to book your room at the Courtyard Seattle Downtown/Lake Union and get the discounted group rate and other perks associated with our room block. The initial cutoff date has passed however the hotel staff have elected to extend the offer for one additional week, until July 8, 2011. Please go to the bottom of the SEA-MAX web page and book directly from our websit to qualify.

    FYI,

    - We now have more frags, corals, fish, inverts, and other livestock available for sale than you've EVER seen in one place! Over a dozen livestock dealers are at SEA-MAX

    - You won't believe the thousands and thousands of dollars worth of raffle prizes we will be raffling off both saturday and Sunday. FAR too many to list here (seriously)

    - Don't forget our very popular, signature 8-foot Children's Touch Tank at SEA-MAX, complete with plenty of marine animals for your youngster to get aquainted with.

    - There is also a children's contest both days not to mention face-painters and balloon artists, etc. We will even have a "Flying Over SEA-MAX" Paper airplane contest!

    - We have no less than 6 great speakers (three per day) to share with you their vast knowlegde and experiences. Now see Bob Fenner BOTH days!

    - SEA-MAX is a very FAMILY FRIENDLY event, so bring the entire crew! Remember that kids 12 and under are admitted absolutely FREE at SEA-MAX!

These are just a few of the great reasons NOT TO MISS this unprecented event! July 23 and 24, 2011 at the Seattle Center - Exhibit Hall, 305 Harrison Drive, Seattle, WA.

    Pre-Sale Discount Tickets:

Discounted Pre-sale Tickets ($5 off) are only available through July 15, 2011, and then its cutoff due to crew travel time to Seattle. Paypal or Credit Card and two ticket minimum. Contact us at: Info@MarineAquariumExpo.com (each ticket is good for one day admission)

We'll see you all at SEA-MAX!

  2. Why does all the info on that site pertain to the event in california in april????

    Dennis

The Marine Aquarium Expo (MAX) in Costa Mesa, CA is our annual "home" event.

SEA-MAX is a sibsidiary of the MAX show

The link provided above sends you directly to the SEA-MAX page

Or if naviagating from the MAX homepage, the SEA-MAX link (photo of Seattle skyline) is prominently displayed on the right side.

  3. Going with my wife and son.. is anyone going to stay at the Marriott Courtyard ? Or is there a closer area to it than that.

The Hotel posted to the SEA-MAX webpage (Courtyard - Lake Union) is LESS than one mile away from the Seattle Center, and with great views.

You must register from the link on our website to get the great group rate of only $159 per night, Free In-room Internet, and other perks: http://www.marineaquariumexpo.com/SEAMAX%20INDEX.html

(scroll to the bottom of the page to see Hotel Info)

  4. That's a nice place and location. I have stayed there many times. Just in case they fill up' date=' are you going to get other hotels near by? The Maxwell Hotel was nice too. Close to Seattle Center area.[/quote']

Thank you very much for the feedback....this is exactly the type of information I need. I'm glad we picked a good location that someone has experienced and liked. I will check with the Maxwell too, because as you already predicted, this hotel will not be able to accomodate all our attendees and exhibitors. I am trying to stay with the hotels that are within a mile of the Seattle Center so people do not have to rent cars if they don't want to (within walking distance). There are dozens of hotels that fit this category, so that shouldn't be a problem. We'll announce another hotel choice in the near future as it takes a while to negotiate with these businesses.

  5. HOTEL!

THE OFFICIAL SEA-MAX HOTEL ROOM BLOCK

Courtyard by Marriott Seattle Downtown/Lake Union

    seacd_phototour38.jpgseacd_phototour33.jpgseacd_phototour39.jpg

925 Westlake Avenue North, Seattle WA 98109

We have negotiated and contracted with a suitable hotel for our SEA-MAX guests! The Courtyard Lake Union is only 0.85 mile from the Seattle Center Exhibit Hall. (easy walking distance for those who don't mind strolling a few blocks)

Rooms are only $169 per night, which is a significant discount off normal July rates!

You must reserve via the MAX website in order to obtain the special rates by clicking HERE: SEA-MAX Web Page (scroll to the bottom of page)

If you still need to call in and speak with a live person, BE SURE to mention the "Marine Aquarium Expo Room Block Rate" to the clerk.

Please see our website for more information, and thank you for your patience.

We will see you in July!

  6. Next SEAMAX Update

First order of 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" postcards has been placed.

I should have these in hand by Feb. 10 and ready to distribute soon thereafter.

I will be sending Mike Wilson an entire batch of 5,000 post cards directly from the printer to distribute where-ever and to whom-ever is willing to pass them out.

I get mine on the 10th and then will place the order for Mike immediately thereafter (inspecting 1st batch for quality & accuracy first)

We are currently working on the hotel arrangement and should have an announcement soon

Plans are going great! we are now at 85% capacity, so if anyone knows of a business out there who might benefit from this show, please let them know to contact us very soon!

  7. HI Everyone!

I trust you all had a great Christmas with family and friends and are now gearing up for the New Year!

I just wanted to throw out an early recon to see if anyone had any imagery/drawings/sketches/graphics they'd like to share for the SEA-MAX effort?

We have not yet created a logo or promotioanal image specific to SEA-MAX (to be used for postcards, flyers, posters, etc.)

If anyone has any artistic talent or simple ideas they'd like to volunteer, we'd love to see them.

    Please e-mail us at: info@MarineAquariumExpo.com

    thank you!

The reasoning is expressed quite simply in our motto:

All we ask is that you help spread the word whether via e-mail, internet posts, or just plain old-fashioned word-of-mouth, to benefit everyone involved.

Those who would like to help volunteer as part staff in July are extremely welcome, but this is in NO way, shape, or form a condition or requirement.

Further details will be posted as we get closer to the event. What you see thus far is in no way the complete event. We WILL have speakers, raffles, the MAX "FinZone", our famous 8-foot Children's Touch Tank, etc. All that remains to be seen is our actual inspection of the facilities to determine where these great attractions will be placed on the floor plan. Lots of great things on the drawing board; we will update you as soon as we can.

Thanks again for your continued support and participation!

The passionate desire of aquarists in the Pacific Northwest has made a new MAX show a reality!

After careful study and consideration, we finally decided to grant the request of clubs and hobbyists who have long petitioned for a Marine Aquarium Expo in their corner of the country.

  12. Hi Guys (and Gals)

thank you very much for the support we've seen here and all the other sites about a possible "SEAMAX" event here in the PNW!

We truly want to bring you a great event however that is not so much upto us as it is the potential exhibitors. THEY are the ones we need to impress.

We've got manufacturers interested IF we can conjure up enough support from the local retail store to exhibit as well.

The good people at MarineGeek.com (one of our exhibitors for BOTH MAX events) have created a special forum for us to collaborate and consolidate all volunteer helpers for the venture.

Please continue to post here as usual, however if you would like to be a volunteer staff member or simply wish to be kept in the loop, go ahead and read the latest and greatest going on at: http://marinegeek.com/bb/index.php

  13. Ok, here are the three main issues we seriously face

    1) Number of Attendees

    2) Key Retail Exhibitors

    3) Affordable Venue

I wish to tackle number 1 very soon by starting an e-mail database somehow. That way we will have something tangible to show potential exhibitors that PNW means business!

I'll make an announcement soon about how we can collect e-mails. (for privacy reasons, we will ask for names and e-mail addresses only....and ONLY for this use)

    SPECIAL NOTE:

please understand I am only communicating these issues because people have asked. The fact that we are responsible for overcoming these issues is not lost on us and we fully understand this is our burden to bear. The last thing in the world we want is to create any frustration (or worse, animosity) amongst the PNW community. If anyone wishes to express their thoughts and/or even opposition to this event, please feel free to post them here. What we do NOT want is to get 3/4 of the way into planning and organizing this event only to find out some group has been stewing and raising their eyebrows all along, and by then it is too late to recitify the issues. We honestly want this event to be a win-win situation for everyone involved, so please be honest and up front with anything on your mind. We want SEAMAX to be a reality just as much as you.

Together we can make this happen!

    Warmest Regards,

    MAX Staff

  14. What is needed to get this thing to happen in Seattle? Anything we can do besides offering volunteers??

YES! 3 things to be exact:

    Exhibitors, Exhibitors, and Exhibitors

We have strong relationships with the manufacturers but LOCAL RETAILERS are a key ingredient and something we do not have direct access to. We would need a good dozen local retail shops to commit to exhibiting at SEAMAX before we can make any real progress.

Also, don't forget about our main show down here in Southern California in April

One vendor brought up a very good point that we may be canibalizing part of our SoCal show by pulling off another MAX just three months later.

I'm not sure if there is a solution to rectifying that concern.

  15. Hi Everyone,

GREAT response, thank you for all your input.

We are still polling vendors to see who would participate.

Thus far this is what we are targeting:

(Info. is only tentative/preliminary IF we hold a PNW event this year)

    Name: (name pending)

    Date: July 2011

    Location: Northern Seattle, Washington

Duration: Weekend - Friday exhibitor setup, Sat/Sun. Exhibit days

Hours: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm both Sat/Sun.

    Booth Cost: ESTIMATED - $750 per 10'x10' (pipe-n-drape/tables/chairs, incl.)

    Entrance Fee: ESTIMATED - $25 Adult, $15 Senior/Military, FREE for Kids 12 & under

    Attendance: ESTIMATED - 1,000+

Raffle: 5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday

Venue: 20,000-25,000 Sq. Ft. Indoor convention hall

Exhibitors: 50+ (Manufacturers, Distributors, Retailers, Hobby-sellers)

    Speakers: Unknown at this time

    Staff: Require 20 volunteers (10 full-time and 10 part-time)

    I hope this helps

We will add more information as it is known.

Thank you to all those who are helping to make this show a reality!

    MAX Staff

  16. MAX2011AD.jpg

    Hi All,

We have been invited to the PNWMAS forum to discuss the possibility of bringing a Marine Aquarium Expo to the Seattle Washington area!

We are considering summer of 2011 as our target date.

"Marine Aquarium Expo (MAX) is the largest consumer event for the marine aquarium hobby in North America. MAX attracts saltwater enthusiasts from all over the United States for an entire weekend of selling, trading, exhibiting, and showcasing the latest products in the aquatics industry. Over 100 booths fill nearly 30,000 sq. ft. of floor space, many selling livestock and/or drygoods. The MAX show is extremely family-friendly with our exclusive FinZone. The kids LOVE our Children's Touch Tank, Doodle Art, Videos & other great activities, so bring the entire family! ."

We are currently polling our vendors to see if they will support such an event, however we wish to hear from you hobbyists as well.

We would like to get a better consensus as to:

    1) how many people would attend such an event?

    2) how many people would volunteer to help staff a Seattle/MAX event?

The only way we can pull this off logistically is if we get enough people committed who can donate some of their time to help bring a show to Seattle.

Please chime in and let us know if you would attend such an event held in in the Seattle Washington area. We anticipate entry fee to be $25 per adult

(this would of course be waived for volunteers)

We wish to thank you for your time and hope to see you in 2011!
