  13. Ladies and Gentlemen, The passionate desire of aquarists in the Pacific Northwest has made a new MAX show a reality! After careful study and consideration, we finally decided to grant the request of clubs and hobbyists who have long petitioned for a Marine Aquarium Expo in their corner of the country. "SEAMAX" will debut in Seattle, WA on July 23-24, 2011 at the Seattle Center. Strategically placed in the center of the largest city of the Pacific Northwest, SEAMAX is anticipated to reach hobbyists and businesses throughout the entire PNW region. The Seattle area is conveniently surrounded by large metropolitan areas such as Portland OR, Vancouver BC and neighboring states of Idaho and Montana. The Seattle Center Main Exhibition Hall 305 Harrison St. Seattle, Washington 98109 Seattle Center: The Seattle Center is a cultural park that hosts the site of the famous Space Needle, International Fountain, performances by internationally acclaimed theater, ballet, and opera companies. Seattle’s best hotels, shopping and restaurants are located just steps away in the Queen Anne neighborhood or accessed by a two-minute ride downtown on the iconic Seattle Center monorail. SeaTac International Airport is only 18 miles away and can be easily accessed by public transportation. Important Facts: - SEAMAX will take place in the 34,000 sq. ft. Exhibit Hall - Standard 10'x10' booths will be only $750 plus $50 (elect) - Attendance is estimated to be 1,000+ attendees - Exhibitor setup will be Friday July 22, 2011 - Registration will take place in order of responses received. - Booth fees are due February 1, 2011 (Next fiscal year!) Important: Please note that this event is completely independent from our Orange County MAX show and will not affect any portion thereof. MAX will continue every April at the OCFEC as usual. Contact: If you have further questions, please call: (714) 530-1094 Our e-mail address is: info@MarineAquariumExpo.com Thank you for your continued support and hope you will participate in this wonderful opportunity to reach the Pacific Northwest market! 14. (sigh) seems someone took our domain name out from under us so the name of this event is back to "pending" at this point. We will update and announce the new name once it has been selected (and purchased). MAX Staff
  15. Hi Guys (and Gals) thank you very much for the support we've seen here and all the other sites about a possible "SEAMAX" event here in the PNW! We truly want to bring you a great event however that is not so much upto us as it is the potential exhibitors. THEY are the ones we need to impress. We've got manufacturers interested IF we can conjure up enough support from the local retail store to exhibit as well. The good people at MarineGeek.com (one of our exhibitors for BOTH MAX events) have created a special forum for us to collaborate and consolidate all volunteer helpers for the venture. Please continue to post here as usual, however if you would like to be a volunteer staff member or simply wish to be kept in the loop, go ahead and read the latest and greatest going on at: http://marinegeek.com/bb/index.php
  16. Ok, here are the three main issues we seriously face 1) Number of Attendees 2) Key Retail Exhibitors 3) Affordable Venue I wish to tackle number 1 very soon by starting an e-mail database somehow. That way we will have something tangible to show potential exhibitors that PNW means business! I'll make an announcement soon about how we can collect e-mails. (for privacy reasons, we will ask for names and e-mail addresses only....and ONLY for this use) SPECIAL NOTE: please understand I am only communicating these issues because people have asked. The fact that we are responsible for overcoming these issues is not lost on us and we fully understand this is our burden to bear. The last thing in the world we want is to create any frustration (or worse, animosity) amongst the PNW community. If anyone wishes to express their thoughts and/or even opposition to this event, please feel free to post them here. What we do NOT want is to get 3/4 of the way into planning and organizing this event only to find out some group has been stewing and raising their eyebrows all along, and by then it is too late to recitify the issues. We honestly want this event to be a win-win situation for everyone involved, so please be honest and up front with anything on your mind. We want SEAMAX to be a reality just as much as you. Together we can make this happen! Warmest Regards, MAX Staff
  17. YES! 3 things to be exact: Exhibitors, Exhibitors, and Exhibitors We have strong relationships with the manufacturers but LOCAL RETAILERS are a key ingredient and something we do not have direct access to. We would need a good dozen local retail shops to commit to exhibiting at SEAMAX before we can make any real progress. Also, don't forget about our main show down here in Southern California in April One vendor brought up a very good point that we may be canibalizing part of our SoCal show by pulling off another MAX just three months later. I'm not sure if there is a solution to rectifying that concern.
  18. Hi Everyone, GREAT response, thank you for all your input. We are still polling vendors to see who would participate. Indoor convention hall Exhibitors: 50+ (Manufacturers, Distributors, Retailers, Hobby-sellers) Speakers: Unknown at this time Staff: Require 20 volunteers (10 full-time and 10 part-time) I hope this helps We will add more information as it is known. Thank you to all those who are helping to make this show a reality! MAX Staff
  19. Hi All, We have been invited to the PNWMAS forum to discuss the possibility of bringing a Marine Aquarium Expo to the Seattle Washington area! We are considering summer of 2011 as our target date. We are currently polling our vendors to see if they will support such an event, however we wish to hear from you hobbyists as well. We would like to get a better consensus as to: 1) how many people would attend such an event? 2) how many people would volunteer to help staff a Seattle/MAX event? The only way we can pull this off logistically is if we get enough people committed who can donate some of their time to help bring a show to Seattle. Please chime in and let us know if you would attend such an event held in in the Seattle Washington area. We anticipate entry fee to be $25 per adult (this would of course be waived for volunteers) We wish to thank you for your time and hope to see you in 2011! MAX Staff www.MarineAquariumExpo.com
