  1. Your missing the point of the problem. You really need to address what is causing the excessive algae growth. Most likely its either phosphates or nitrate issues. You need to test those levels and see where you are at. Do two 50% water changes over two weeks and that should help some. Make sure your skimmer is working properly. Also check what kelvin your lights are. If your running close to 10k then 20k your going to get more algae growth. How long is your photo-period? How much do you feed your fish' date=' what is your fish load in comparison to your tank volume? How do you export excess nutrients? Do you run a sand bed, do you clean it? Run some carbon in the tank that will remove any phenols that are in the water that the skimmer isnt picking up. Be sure to run phosphate remover and replace it on a schedule according to what brand you use.[/quote']

I usually agree with stylaster because he knows way more about this hobby than I do; that being said I totally disagree on this one. You can come test my water and it will max out every test strip IE my water is terrible, however I have ZERO bryopsis, bubble algae, hair algae, majanos, aptasia or flatworms; i do have a problem with coraline though. ;) Don't get me wrong I'm sure these would all thrive/take over my system but that is my point, I refuse to let them in. I will not put any of the above into my system and I will kill any frag which carries them. This obviously becomes more difficult when you are buy/trading a lot (I'm on a budget so I don't get many new corals.) I believe in a varied group of herbivores and prevention, prevention, prevention. You will not have these undesirable critters/algaes I you don't let them in, in the first place.

  2. Brad you have a black spot angle!!!! Want to pair her up??? I have a big female with streamers who is looking for a good home. :) I have to get her out of hypo first. Do you have a male too???

P.S. she is free for you I just want her to have a good home. :)

EDIT: on closer inspection it looks like yours is already turning male, that is going to be one amazing fish when the stripes come in all the way. :)

  3. I've never kept one, but I have seen many in reef tanks before. Not saying it should stay just saying I wouldn't be Upset with the LFS. Many wrasses that are "reef safe" also eat shrimp. Just my 2 cents. :)

  4. It sounds like you are over feeding to me. I can testify that BTAs do not mind "dirty" water, however IME swings in water they do not appreciate. You might want to google silversides and nems as well, I have read that they can "spoil" and subsequently kill your nems. After reading that I stopped feeding silversides all together. As long as you have good lighting your nems should be fine being target fed brine shrimp. I also like to give mine spectrum pellets (the 1mm ones)

  5. They are blind, that's why they hunt at night... If anyone goes missing I would blame him. I had a brackish tank years ago with a 2' snowflake mory (brackish one different from the ones we are used to seeing) He lived happily with a puffer who became a favorite of mine until one night the moray got him. :( If I were you I would get rid of him and get a pair of golden morays. I can remember the puffer swimming circles around the eel and I thought he would never be caught, i guess even the best of us are vulnerable while we are sleeping.

  6. 25 is steep for a red mushroom but to each his own i guess i never heard from him but premium aquarium in salem now he has some nice stuff and cheep to after i get back from so cal im going to pick up a rainbow rose tip there so nice and captive raised rose tips are nice to nice addition to the clownhouse

Rainbow nems are awesome!!! You will have to keep it angry so it keeps splitting. LOL j/k. :)
