  1. So I have been one to never throw anything away and I have some pieces of old live rock that I have kept in a box. Alot of the pieces now are a green color. I have boiled them in a pot of water and they still come out green. What is a way to turn them back to a nice white?

  2. Thanks all for the phone calls. Didnt take long to get rid of the rock. He still has a 135 glass tank with stand and lights, 40 gal (guessing) sump wet/dry type, skimmer, pumps, filters and now is parting things out. Give me a call on Sunday if your interested in anything and I should be able to tell you what everything is.

  3. Here is my 24 gal reef aquarium. Stocked with the help of the pnwmas community trades and good buy's. Just getting back into the hobby as I had a loss last summer. I left the tank running with the single surviving clown fish, just didnt have the heart to get rid of him so I left the tank up and running with just him and the live rock. The tank is hooked to a 5 gal sump and 10 gal refugium located in the stand. I custom built both the hood and the stand cabinets. Wish I could take better pics to post.

  4. interesting

Ok thanks for the link! So now this brings the question : since I have had a plenum for about 3 years how should I go about removing it. At this point I dont have a bunch of livestock cause last July I had a crash due to big lights and high tempurtures. I really am worried about what is lurking under the abyss. I had been aware about the build up of killer gasses which came back to me in a nighmare I had the other night, now that I am considering stocking the tank. Bottom line is ive been bit by the reef bug again and dont want the plenum to be my next big issue! Plus I dont want to cause what I do have stocked to be a total loss while tearing it down.

  5. I'm sure this has come up before but what does everone think about a Plenum

in a reef tank. Been around awhile and visited most all the LFS and never see them so.... Good or Bad or indiferent?

  6. So they have arrived and look good so far. I'm going to go ahead and acclimate them so I can be sure, before we trade, you will get living pets... I believe all are spoken for so those of you have have gotten a PM get in touch with me. I will post again if more become available.

  7. I am down with Jackaninny. I plan on picking up my frag shortly after delivery. So I would say people involved should either chose to participate with Jackininny or not? First come first serve only sucks for those coming from out of town.

  8. My vote is get Patrick involved if he is willing, one person volunteer to pay the shipping, as you get your frag by some random draw you pay your dues. If someone local here pays the shipping it wouldnt be hard to swing by the shop and spend it I mean pick it up =)

...and yes I would be willing if by chance someone gets a dud to make them whole by means of propagation.

  9. I guess the first thing we have to do is figure out how many polyps are coming in the shippment. Next, chose someone to recieve the shippment in which that person will have probably paid the full amount of shipping. Then arange a way so that everyone has the same fair shot at getting a polyp and paying for thier portion of the shipping. In my opinion our best shot at a shop going along with this is Saltwater Fantaseas or Davy Jones Locker. If willing they could accept the shipment asign each polyp a number and then when you come to get your polyp you draw a number and get the polyp assigned. Just an idea.
