  1. Whats the prices on your corals? I dont have anything to trade unless you are looking for smaller tanks or an engineer goby. Kim (Im also in ALbany)
  2. I of course would love to get a free one that someone doesnt want but I will pay depending on price.
  3. Looking for an acrylic tank around 10 gallons in size. I have 10 gallon tanks & a 30 gallon tank, both glass.
  4. Thanks for the info. Any specific species would be best? I would love a peacock but thought they needed more than a 10 gallon?
  5. Im looking into turning my 10 gallon tank into a mantis shrimp only tank. Anyone have one that they dont want anymore?
  6. Since my tanks crashed from the heat, Ive been looking to either do away with my 10 gallon tank or keep it for something different than a reef or fish tank. I was reading the Seahorse site & started reading the mantis shrimp page. Can a mantis live "the high life" in a 10 gallon? What species would be best in there for the long term? What else can I have in there? Any live rock, corals? Kim

  8. I only take 1-2 depending on the species, if they are communal or not. Keep them in a large 10 gallon naturally set to the way they are accustomed to. If I get them from Marys Peak, I take some rocks, dirt & hides from where I took them. Same for desert species. They get crickets & mealworms, water. They are fun to watch, easy to keep. Since I work with ODFW & sometimes USDA/ODA (thats who regulates bugs in Oregon & the U.S) it was easy for me to find out about legalalities surrounding taking scorpions from the wild. As long as you are not taking them for resale use, you can "harvest" as many as you want, within reason of course. Talking to some of the professors from OSU, they are more than happy to help you find where they are at & give you as much info as you are needing. Kim
  9. Well, I turned one into a paperweight/conversation piece. Since we do domestic animal & wildlife rescue, people are so interested in the fish tanks, not thinking they are animals too so the first thing they see when they come into the house is the tanks. I plan on placing the clean, dry skeleton out for everyone to touch & see. Not something most people would get to see too often. The other I just washed off the stuff left on it in saltwater & placed it back into my 15.5 gallon. I will eventually get some zoas & place them on there. Thanks to everyone who responded for ideas! Kim
  10. Thanks. Yes those are margaritas. I have tried several other species, they dont last long. Ive had nothing but longevity with the margaritas. They do a great cleaning job too!
  11. Went to Bend & Sisters last weekend, didnt find a thing but I belong to a scorpion forum & theres a couple of people who live there that will take people out to look for them. Maybe next time....
  12. Contact your local feral cat rescues/trappers & present it to them as a feral cat you found wandering the streets. They should take it in & they have funding/grants to help pay for it. Any donations of anything you can give them will be welcome too. If you dont find any for your area, let me know & I will compile a list.
  13. My husband lost his job 3 months ago but just started a new one on Tuesday. He went from welding sawmill equipment to welding grain refinery equipment. At one of his jobs from 3 years ago, he would be gone for 2 months plus, now with this job he will be gone 1-3 weeks so not as bad. This job meets his unemployment so we are good. What doesnt kill you makes you stronger, right?
  14. Heres my 2 before the heat crash. Im going to try hard to get them back that way again. Kim
  15. My 2 flowerpots died during this heat (yea no chiller). What can be done with the skeletons? Can new colonies of flowerpots be introduced into it (does it even work that way?) or other corals or do you clean them out & use them as live rock? Kim
  16. Is this just a BBQ or are corals & such going to be there for selling or trade?
  17. I have a fan on it (the one that has all of the coral & fish in it) It seems to be maintaining a safe temp. The other one is still hot but not as bad & it only has lr in it for right now. I did water changes on both with some cold salt water. Ive lsot 4 fish, if I loose my corals, I will not be a happy girl...... (flame)
  18. Since I have 2 tanks, one still has 4 fish in it & they are doing well. Keeping the temps at 78-82. I will have to restock the other tank, I think with a couple of pearly jawfish & a firefish since they are my favorite fish. When it cools down...... (nutty)
  19. I lost my pearly jawfish, a pj cardinal, a blenny & a red firefish. All cheap fish but I loved them anyways. Im hoping the coral will be ok in the other tank, we will see & thanks! Kim
  20. I have 2 tanks, one got too hot & guess what...... So I cleaned out all of the "stuff" reaquascaped & am letting it cycle. The other tank has all of the coral & 4 fish. Im keeping it cool with ice bottles. No chillers available of course now. I spend alot of my time learning & educating myself on pretty much everything so this is not something I enjoy - making mistakes. Learning experience. (whistle) DOH! (scary) (flame)
  21. Ever since I have set up my 10 gallon tank I have had horrible luck with snails & shrimp. Almost all of them die. Any ideas? Coral & fish are doing great! Kim
  22. I wouldnt vote for either. My husband & I have been in martial arts since I was 4 & he 9 years old. He competed along with his father & I have been all over the world competing & I now donate my time to kids & adults wanting to learn self defense for their own protection, not competition. All of those listed do have talent but for the movie screens. Although they all competed growing up, none have been active in competing or helping others get started. I could name some others that are much better ie Gracie, Capon, Dacascos, Steelsom, Reverina. They are active in trying to get kids into it & are consultants for movies. Just my opinion. Kim
  23. Its a Sansa Sandisk, model c240 with earphones & charger for $20. Works great, lots of genres of music on there that I can leave or take off. Needs to be gone by Sunday. Located in Albany or can meet.
  24. We went to the base of Marys Peak, found 6 of them easily. These can be kept communally. There are 6 different species in Oregon. We are going to Bend this Sunday & we will look for some others. Kim
  25. Does anyone scorpion hunt on here or want to? Kim
