  1. Very nice.

I wish my over flow box way like that.

One the hanging fixture, are the things between the chain and cable a tension pulley of some sort? So you can lift the hood and it will stay.

  2. I need to chop the side of my Spongodes. I have lost a couple branches of my light blue tip stag to him.

The problem is, I think if I put to much pressure on it that the whole thing will come off the rock. So I am looking for ways of cutting it in the tank as the rock is to big.

  3. OK got the little bugger out safe and sound.

I had to make a long spoon thing out of a fiberglass arrow shaft and cottage cheese lid.

Drained the water as much as I could (to a 1/4") and went for it.

After chasing and scooping for about 10 min of total stress and having him to the top about 4 or 5 times.

I think I took more stress then he did as we was out and about the same old way in about 30 min.

  4. Kinda like that but it allmost 22" down to the bottom.

Thinking of draining as much water as I can from the box and making a long spoon thing and push him into the little net that I can get in there. Just can't move they net once it down there.

I guess if I had to I could just take the outgoing bulkhead and push him through there. That dosent sound fun though.

    Back to work I go.

  5. Well I noticed my Hippo was around. I had to tear his bed out "volley ball size Hydno as it was too big". So started doing the big search for him and found him in my over flow box.

So thats my job for the day. Looking for some idea as them Hippos are super wedges. Been trying to poke at him and scare him into the net with no success.

  6. Where did the rock come from?

Was it dried or base rock?

    Was it man made stuff?

It looks to me as it was base rock and it is starting to get some kinda algae showing up. As for it being good or bad, you may have to wait till it get bigger to identify it.

  7. Use the gel stuff as its alot easer. You can do it right over the tank if you want. If you can pull the plug and the coral out, then dry the two spots off some and put the glue on and dip it back in the water. The glue starts to skim over as it comes in contact with the water.

  8. Sorry no nudes of me. But people have been getting to stressed lately.

So who want to admit to being in the Nude Reefing Club?

Have you ever got up in the morning and got your coffee. Then walked over to admire the tank to find that a coral has fallen on top or touching another coral.

So as to not get your robe wet, off it goes on the spot to rescue the coral.

So who will join with me on this grand adventure?

  9. Has anyone tried to take your old nasty reflectors and have them re-chromed or chromed as there not really chromed. I going to try and have a chrome shop look at them in a couple day to see what it would cost.

I pretty sure chrome has copper in the making of it and if it got in the water it would bad news. But my fixture has the water shield that would keep it from ever getting in there.

Cheaper yet would be to buy some chrome spray in a rattle can and see how that turns out.

Anyways what your thoughts on the re-chroming?

  10. Come on you guys, if this hobby was easy everyone would do it. It isn't a cheep hobby at all. This hobby does require time as well.

As far as the LFS and club support, That I think is a hole other thread.

I do get bummed at least once a year for the time I have to spend.

If you think this hobby is bumming you out to much, sell your live stock, dry your rock and store your equipment in the garage. After a year take another look at it.

Try and keep your head up guys this isn't a easy time right now.
