I'm running a 30 gallon system with a mix of softies and LPS that is a little over a year old. The first coral added was a small frag of Green Star Polyps that has since grown into a beautiful, healthy colony.
This past week, all polyps suddenly retracted. The mat still seems pink and healthy, but a polyp or two are only poking out sporadically. All other softies, LPS and fish are thriving, and water parameters are normal. The only change was the addition of a small frag of war coral favia added two days before the GSP's went south.
Anyone know why this hardiest of corals might have reacted in this manner? Seems odd that my zoas, shrooms and favias are doing so well, but the GSP's so suddenly took a nosedive. Might there be some chemical warfare going on with the new war coral? And, do I just be patient and wait for the GSP to rebound?
Thanks for any advice you can provide.
