The only way I could come up with is use a grinder for the edges and file it from there. Acrylic makes more sense.

What do you plan to do for the stand? Custom build it? It sounds like you have a plan.

I am going custom built and still in the planning stage.

Tank is acrylic. You can not cut a rectangle in glass. Well you can try but will end up with many pieces  I used to work at a glass shop many years ago and the only way to get a hole is to drill.

 

What stand are you going with? Tall short? Looks almost the same as Jasons tank at OIAB.

the stand will be 33" tall. the tank will sit right behind the sofa
