  1. I think I'll give them a chance with the anemone in my refuge and see what happens. I like the idea of acclimating them like you mentioned Garrett, which I'll have to do if I end up going for another pair. I may consider this with the pair I have now if the first option doesn't work. I'm not inclined to ditch them, so I'll try a couple of options.

Maybe you could share what a "center fold" quality clown pic would be Doz? What... maybe I don't want to see that.

  2. I did buy them at Oasis. Thanks for the web site! I'll check into that. It may just be a lost cause at this point, but I can always hope. They've made some mild interest to some zoos at one point, but that seemed to be brief or just taking a look.

  3. I've got a couple of clowns and anemone with no interest in each other. Don't know if this is common or if there can be something done to encourage this? Of course I bought them seperately with the hopes this would happen, obviously no luck.

I've given thought to buying another anemone, e.g. Steelhead's RBTA (drooler), but didn't know if my chances were any better. (scratch)

The other general question is are there certain anemone's that are more likely to be hosted? The one living in my tank currently is a Sebae anemone.

  4. Great looking tank Daniel! Good to see some of those corals up close... the pictures probably don't do it justice, but they look good. I'm hoping to get into some of those nicer ones with the better lighting that I'm hoping to pick up today. Love to come and see some of those in person at some point.???

  5. Looking for T-5 light fixture to buy. I'm coming here before I make the investment of buying new. I don't have a top on my tank, so it would have to be a self contained/enclosed model. If anyone has something that I could convert I'd be interested in looking at that too.

    Thanks

  6. Wanted to see how people either plan for to take care of our underwater friends when the power goes out. Woke up this morning harder to navigate without the lights.(scary)

Went to the local rental store and got a generator and powered the pump, power head, heater, and protein skimmer. Everything seems to be working at this point.

I've seen some of those surge protectors with battery back up, but don't know if they would run everything and 60 minutes doesn't seem like all that long.

  7. Wholly cow the Maristar would be great, but I can't justify spending that amount of cash considering it's more than I paid for my first car. Ouch. I'll look and see if there are other brands that may work, but I'm usually one to go with the quality since that seems to pay off in the long run.

  8. I'm looking for a little advice. I've got some T-5 lights that probably need new bulbs, but I'm wondering if it would be better to wait and invest in MH lights? The second question is which one to buy? I like having the open top, so I'm not going to be able to retro fit some MH lights. My tank, 72 gal bow front, is 48 x 18 x 22. Everything seems to be gowing fine, so on one hand I'm inclinded to just leave it as it is and buy the new bulbs.

I've done some research, but wanted to get feedback from people in the know... that means probably just about anyone who reads this compaired to me.:D

    Thanks!

  9. If the new batteries I bought weren't already expired I'd have the pictures. I'm still learning, so I may screw up some of the names. I'm hoping to remedy the picture problem tonight.

Come to think of it... my LFS pulled the same kit, API, from the shelf that I bought from them. It doesn't sound there there is a very high opinion of this brand, so I'll find another.

    I'll try that.

Thanks again for all the feedback. I'll try to get those pics up tomorrow.(scary)

  10. Wow you guys are on it!!!

I've taken water to the LFS and they agreed with all my levels. I've stopped dosing anything, other than slime coating and some stabilization chemicals for PH, which doesn't effect cal level???

Any suggestions on dosing the alk?

I'm going for a combo tank. I've got two clowns, yellow tail tang, two chromis, and a psudo dottyback. Anomie Obviously a arrow crab, AKA spider crab, some zoos, frog spawn, monti (small frag), and a green brain coral (small).

The LFS has been helpful and I've always taken their advice and made sure they are aware of what I have and if it would work in my tank. Other than the rock I have, I've been in there just about every month if not a couple of times per month.

    Thanks again!

  11. Hello PNWMAS!

Decided to dive in and be known. I've been looking at all the great info since July when I started up my tank. I've got a 72 gal Bow with T-5 lights and a 5 gal refugium. I'll get into more of the details of the equip, etc, when I can post some pictures. I hope to do that next week.

I do have a question. I've been running in the mid to upper 600 ppm Calcium for the past six weeks. I've been doing regular water changes and all my other numbers are great. PH is 7.2, alkalinity is just a bit above 200. All my water is run through a water filter that needs a filter change, so I'm hoping the number will lower when I get the new filter. I also tried a phos treatment that didn't do much in terms of lowering the calcium. Please let me point out that I've only had a tank up and running since 07-08 and I've subscribed to the slower is better. I bought two SPS to see if they would have any impact. Any other ideas?

I've really enjoyed the pictures and seeing the information. Very useful!(rock2)

I'll put some pictures up next week. Also, any other central oregon members, it would be great to hear from you.
