  1. How old are the lights?

The bulbs that are in there (if thats what you mean) are maybe 2 months old. I bought a set online and then the LFS was telling how bad "no name" bulbs can be so I bucked up and and bought SPS lights-I think they are coralview, I could check.

Anyway put in the new bulbs-no visible differance in my opinion

I put a PAR meter under them and got readings of between 950-1000.

So I have Actually the other bulbs I will throw in, the no name 20K's-2 of them and the old T5's.

The older T5's are probablly 5-6 months old, the no name HQI's about 3 months.

The fixture itself was part of a complete set up I bought (used) last Christmas-and now sellingDOH!

    Hope that makes sense.

Sorry for the delay, I have Comcast and yesterday SUCKED(threaten)-I could not get on line, about 1 page loaded per 8 attempts, its not a new problem for them-GLAD I SWITCHED-NOT(flame)

  2. Sorry I got my clams mixed up, I'ld be afraid of potential size these guys can get would not be good for my tank.

How long have you had it and how much have you seen it grow?

Getting uo to 20 inches really wont work-but if that is over 40 years well.....

    Let me know

    Thanks

  3. What are the dimensions of the tank?? Thanks

THE TANK ITSELF IS 60" WIDE 18" HIGH AND 17" DEEP

TANK AND STAND WITH CANOPY STAND 62" HIGH AND 61" WIDE AND 19" DEEP

I DID NOT PAINT THE INSIDE DOORS BUT HAVE THE PAINT THAT I USED AND THE BUYER CAN HAVE

The tank has scratches and I was going to get a buffing wheel from Taps plastic and buff them out but I would have had to increase the price. I've buffed plastic before there is nothing to it. I could buff them out and pass on the costs plus the extra for the beer:D

Also, if someone wanted I could cut an opening about 3 feet by 4-5 inches on the front of the canopy and put a hinged door for the front of the canopy. I did that on the one I built after this one.

    Just a thought

  4. are the ballast built in

Sorry I didn't mention that, "Yes" on the built in, there is nothing external just the cords coming out. 3 cords, one for the MH, one for the T5's and the other for the moon lights. It did not have the moon lights I added them afterward.

The T5's are able to slide off if you want, they are not permanent.

    Heres the fixture

  6. Red Slime Control its made by Blue Life-in case you did not know the name, sounds like whats called cynobacteria-We all have had it at one time. I've tried diiferent products the Blue Life works best. You cant use your protien skimmer or carbon or ozone while treating with it.

I found mine was more light related, longer photo period as well as ambient light from the front picture window.

If you have a picture that always helps to be certain.

    Good Luck!

  7. If you want to keep busy or interested, try a nano cube. That will keep you occupied, nothing like a little algae outbreak, or a cyno outbreak, to keep you busy.

You can add an HQI's and that will let you run into heat issues which will allowto buy a chiller and since you have the chiller you can add a HOT skimmer like AquaC makes.

After that you can figure you dont have enough flow-which could have been why you got the algae and/or cyno so you can add a few Koralia's which certainly will drive up your heat and justify the chiller for sure, and since you have the chiller you can easily justify the skimmer, and maybe the HQI's are to much so you can get a fixture that has 6-24wT5's.

Before you know it, it will be winter and the gloomy weather will have you all happy again, and glad you have a larger tank!!!

By the way, I have a 24 gallon Nano for sale, a 1/10hp chiller, an AquaC HOT skimmer, and a light fixture that houses 6 24 watt T5's plus a few Koralias for sale(wife)

another idea is to get a few real cool zoas, and make a LR colony out of multiple colors-and hey maybe that nano can be a frag tank(nono)(nono)(nono)(nono)

hind sight I tell myself hind sight(scary)

WOO HOO you gotta love this hobby!!!
