  1. I have no experience with Black Ich but I did find an article about it. http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/compldiagnodisease/a/aa041701.htm Hope it helps David
  2. I found this thread on Reef Frontiers and got Boomer's permission to post his here for him. You can reach him directly at wcwingATchartermiDOTnet or respond to the RF thread. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47461 Joe Yaiullo, who is the Curator/Cofounder of the famous Atlantis Marine World, a 20,000 gallon reef tank and Mitch Carl who is Director of Omaha Zoo's 500gal stony coral display and 1000gal stony coral propagation will be in Portland for a AZA meeting in Sept. They will be flying into PDX which will also include a visit to Oregon Coast Aquarium. Joe will be getting in monday the 14th at 11:35am and flying out at 1pm on thurs the 17th. The conference is tues the 15th, but as of now there are no plans for that evening. They want to be hitting the coast on wed the 16th, maybe some tanks/ stores to check out coming and going... etc.. Mitch is getting in at 7pm on the 14th. So, the question is, are there any of you guys there that can take care of these two form me. Like where to go, what to see, what stores, some great reef tank to see or even a guide tour during their free time ? It is not ever day you get to hang out with the likes of these two guys. __________________ Boomer
  3. http://www.themarinecenter.com/fish/eels/goldendwarfmorayeel/ Golden Dwarf Morays are one of the smaller eels, but are pricey and hard to find.
  4. I know how you feel about battling ich all too well. I lost 3 of my favorite fish to it, and now taking the plunge of setting up additional tanks to run copper and leave mine empty for 6 weeks. Even now with the bumps in the road I have with my tank I still sit there for hours watching my fish and be amazed by them (except for the time my 2 snowflake eels decided to fight and one grabbed the other by the body and flung it to the other side). Rabbitfish do a good job of cleaning algae as well. My One Spot Foxface cleaned the forest of bryopsis my friend had in his tank, and his tangs started to eat it after they saw my Foxface eating it.
  5. Here is video from Luxim on the Plasma bulbs.
  6. I really enjoy my FOWLR, but some of the reef tanks I see here are just amazing. I'm actually setting up my little 12g Oceanic nano to put some corals in.
  7. Don't have a pic of the panther yet. He is rather shy right now and stays in the rocks.
  8. I got this lionfish from a guy in Puyallup who was breaking down his tank. I went to his house to pickup a panther grouper and couldn't resist taking this guy off his hands as well. He is roughly 9" in length.
  9. The frame is made out of 1/8" Steel tubing. The only open areas on the frame are where I drilled self tapping screws in to hold the reflectors. I think I'm going to use eye hooks to hang the reflectors down a little bit so they don't touch the frame at all and use a silicone around the holes I made. Thanks for all the input.
  10. The ballast, reflectors and bulbs were a combo kit that I bought. I will upgrade reflectors when I find a good deal on some used ones.
  11. The tank is 24" deep. The frame can't move up and down, but that is a great idea. I might have to take it back to my friend and have him cut it and redo the bottom end so I can have it adjustable.
  12. I am just looking for some input on my lighting for my tank. Right now I run 2 250w 14k Hamilton DE bulbs. I have the 2 reflectors mounted to a custom made steel frame that my friend from work made me. The frame is 20" wide and 18" tall with the 3 rails evenly spaced out. I plan on running T5 lights on the 2 outer rails in the future. I installed a fan behind the halides to cool the reflectors down because of the center rail heating up. Thanks in Advance, David

I actually have a jar of crush garlic cloves, and I will take a spoon of the juice out and mix with my food.

Right now I feed my fish silversides, chopped squid, mysis shrimp, flake food, and prawns. I soak all of my food minus the flake food in garlic before I feed and will sometimes use Entice. Thank you for your input. David

The rest of my fish have not shown any signs of it yet, and the puffer is clearing up. Would I have to separate all of them or do you think they could all go in another tank and be treated at once? Thanks, David
